She's adorable! I love the videos! :) What is she mixed with? She looks small for a wolf hybrid. My friend had a wolf/husky mix that was more wolf than husky and BOY could you tell. lol.

Pic of me with said Wolf-hybrid:

She was about to lurch forward and lick my face...but she looks a little more like the big bad wolf in this pic. :P

I don't see much wolf in her at all. She looks like a wonderful pet though.

She looks like one of the dogs you would see in a Disney cartoon movie. She's very cool.

Very awesome, are wolf hybrids something that is like a chance grab or something people actually breed?

LOL, exactly. Every time I grab the camera, she gives me this look and then tries to run.

Thank you! Her father is a high-mid content wolfdog (wish I had pics, but didn't get any :( ) and her mother was a low-mid content Shepard-wolfdog. She has the "flag tail" of a Shepard like her mom and her ears are very similar to her mom's too. She's currently making the transition from dark to light (so she seems a little scraggly) and we keep her in the house mostly, so her coat is very light compared with others who keep theirs mostly outside. She's still pretty much a pup...coming right up at almost a year old, but I have to agree...she is definitely pretty small. And WOW, that pic is awesome. :D

It is probably because like I mentioned, we keep her indoors mostly and her coat is very light, plus she's still pretty young. ;) It is insane how smart she is. Sometimes you can look at her and see her working things out in her mind. She really has been a great addition here.

:D Yeah, she'd definitely fit right in. She can be so funny and she does the most hilarious things. She has to put everything (and I mean everything) in her mouth, so I've had to "Kira-proof" the house and watch her when we go out.

I do believe that some people breed them. Here in Utah where I live they are actually pretty common. However, they are illegal in some states, so you have to be sure you can have them where you live. They are definitely not like dogs and are for sure not for everyone (it takes a strong alpha person to keep them from running you over, lol). I met Kira's parents' owner through a friend and set up her purchase. I have yet to regret it. :)

That's funny because I have a chihuahua that HATES getting her picture taken. It's like I'm stealing part of her soul. When we try she will turn completely away from you and slowly walk away. I hate to trick her and rub her belly until she's on her back and snap one real quick.

She is a very beautiful dog. Chad and I have said that we are done with warm blooded animals ( we have 5 dogs ) but we do one day want a hybrid.

That is hilarious! Kira doesn't walk away slowly. She runs around the house like a crazed dog, barking and yipping and howling. If she even hears the camera come on, she does this little growly whine as if to say: Not again! :D

Thanks! :) If you ever do get one, you probably won't regret it. They are highly intelligent, very socially oriented dogs. She does well with kids, but I've had to work with her quite a bit to socialize her. As funny as it sounds, they aren't like having a pet. It's more like having a companion that follows your guidance (though they're VERY good at pushing it to the limit and pushing your buttons, lol!). I do believe, though, if you ever got one, you'd love it. :)

Oh, she's just gorgeous! What a sweet face, too... and since she shares my niece's name (even the same spelling), I know she must be a cool girl. :)

P.S. This kid today said my dog (Rudy) looked like a wolf, which I've never thought about him... but maybe the kid was on to something, because he actually does kinda resemble your dog! Pretty sure he's just a standard mutt, though. LOL

Thank you! :) Kira actually picked out her own name. When we first brought her home, we couldn't decide on River, Willow or Akira. She didn't seem too interested in the first two, but responded well to the third name. Somehow, somewhere along the way, the A got dropped, so it ended up being just Kira. :D I get asked all the time if Kira is a wolf (or occasionally a coyote, lol!) but unless they ask, I don't offer the info. Some people seem to get antsy over a "wolf" in the neighborhood, which kills me because they'd probably be in more danger from their Shih Tzu than Kira. lol! You should check to see if wolfdogs are legal in your area, maybe yours is one. ;)

Aww, thank you for commenting and the compliment. I am glad she could put a smile of your face...she's quite good at that, as she puts one on my every day. ;)
