    Which bedding do you prefer?
Welp, I'm planning on switching to a different substrate than newspaper for some particular reasons. What does everyone use?

    Males - Cypress mulch
Females - Cypress mulch and newspaper depending on where they are in the breeding season
    Hatchlings - Aspen

Kraft Bogus paper. Much more absorbent than newspaper.

Cypress or repti bark..whichever I find first. If I had hatchlings I would keep them on paper towels for a bit though.

Coco coir, natural and a by product of the coconut harvest. Holds humidity better than anything else and it is digestible as well. It is super cheap too, look at organic greenhouses or farmers. I pay something like 4$ for 110L (29gal) it retails in my area for 7$ either way not very costly.

Don't look too far, it also holds lots of bacteria and molds easily.

We use brawny or Bounty paper towels under all of our ball pythons :)

Kraft paper and reptisorb. I will likely be switching to reptisorb exclusively due to the shipping cost of the kraft paper.

I have friends and family that have used pine for decades and never had a problem with it for birds and reptiles. I just used the paper towels because I always have them.

I use unprinted newspaper - aka - packing paper. No ink on the snakes, and when the snakes soil their bedding, they get completely changed - no spot cleaning here for me. I like knowing it's clean.

Well is Aspen okay for breeding, because I heard that it causes hemipenes absesses. Will cypress not do that?

Alright dumb question...those of you that use paper towels, do you just put them in and spray them or leave them dry? Seems they would hold a ton of moisture, how do you check the humidity? How thick of a layer? I'm certain I'm over thinking this but please humor me :)

I use the packing paper from Uhaul. It's basically newspaper with no print. I like it cause it's quick easy and clean and unlike newspaper every sheet is the same size so you know exactly how to fold each up for all your different tub sizes.
