    Where to get an incubator?
How many of you guys built your own?
How many of you bought one? If so, where did you buy it?
    Do breeders sell their incubators?

I plan on pairing a few BPs this season and I'll need an incubator. I was considering picking one up at the expo, but I hear a lot of negative reviews on incubators that come boxed and ready to go. I really like the idea of building my own, but I'm no handy-man, and I'll probably have my buddy who IS a handy-man help me out. Leads me to my next series of questions..

Where can you get a dead fridge? or those fancy Cola coolers? Those are freakn sweet looking, and I'd love to have one of those!

Building your own is rather easy, there is probably several "how to " posts on here....I built one for a friend last week out of an old mini fridge....i have also made them out of regular ice coolers.

There are a ton of how to posts. I picked up an old wine reefer on CL and plan to convert it.

I've seen some of them that are posted here. I was just looking for some variety.

I coverted my incubator from a broken Red Bull mini fridge.

I got the fridge off of craigslist and documented in the post how I converted it. If you have any particular questions just let me know.

I got mine for free from my neighbors convience store :) I am sure if you look around you can pick one up either free or inexpensive if it is not working :P

Use an old ice cooler, and use heated water in the bottom. They are a very simple design and work great. I know a lot of people that use this method and it works great. Also there is no need to worry about humidity.

My first one I built out of a proofing/hot box, worked fairly nicely. Most recently, I threw one together out of a big cooler I got at wally world and some stuff I had lying around. Holds temps to within a half degree variance over the day.

You can pretty much make one out of anything. I wish we had an extra closet, I'd rig one up outta that.

Keep checking craigslist. Or ask friends, keepers, random people, whoever! Haha.
I just kept checking and checking craigslist until I found mine. I now have an big ole awesome double door pepsi fridge. I bought it as a WORKING cooler for $70.
    Don't give up!!

I have a giant closet =]. There's 3 rooms in my house with massive closets :D. I got one of 'em, and the other my sister uses as an office. She told me to put an incubator or another rack in the closet... It's a walk-in closet... lol. Her and her fiance's room is HUGE and about 3x the size of my room it seems like lol, so they're just going to get a wardrobe.

I built both of my incubator, when I started I build a cooler incubator capable of holding 8 egg boxes, sold it and built a new one with an old fridge this time capable of holding 20 to 30 egg boxes.

I just finished building mine last night using this tutorial by twistedtails...http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...bator-Tutorial.

I am not very handy, but had a very easy time building it because of his GREAT write-up. I found a working wine cooler with a glass door on Craigslist for $70. All together I spent about $275 including a new Herpstat 1.

Here's a crappy pic...(The eggs in there are snapping turtle eggs in case anyone was wondering).

I bought mine from Nature's Spirit. Very simple, but I didn't want to take a chance with my eggs by making one myself at the time. Now that I have the design in front of me I can build more if needed. Sometimes peace of mind is worth the extra cash.

Built this one for about 40.00 plus the cost of the Helix.
Found the freezer at a repair shop that they couldn't fix.
Bought the light sockets and wire at Lowes
Computer fan and 12v converter from Radio Shack

There ya go! While I haven't used their bators yet, I did mess with them at the show and they seem solid. I should be picking one up soon.

I will say these Hot Boxes are some really good looking incubators. I may look into them when I outgrow my Red Bull oven.

I agree they look very cool, but holy bajeezus Batman! $650 for an incubator (thermostat not included) that holds 14 6-qt tubs? :8: I'll stick with my re-furbed upright freezer (end cost ~$70 before Herpstat).

Build one. Its not worth it to buy one imo. It will have to be insanely expensive to be a quality product, and you will likely out grow it at some point if you plan to keep expanding.
