    Feeling really sick about this
So I know I might be over reacting, but i just want to make sure.

I had Atlas outside today (it was warm and sunny wanted to get some pictures) and well...I tripped and accidentally caught him underfoot for less than a second. He still moves fine, and after feeling him up nothing feels stiff/out of place. and he still has all the flexibility that he had before. There was also no noise when it happened but I'm not sure if a snake bone breaking would be as loud as a human bone breaking.

where I "Stepped" on him was just ahead of his cloaca, and I'm just worried about any injury I could have caused?

Snake bones are tiny and delicate, you would not hear it break.

If you injured him internally, you might not notice until too late, a vet visit might be in order. They could Xray him to check for broken bones or check him for any issues(fluid buildup from injury?).

It depends on how much you stepped on him... not really how long it took.

If he seems/feels fine and doesn't seem to be in pain, I think he might be fine? But I agree that it could be difficult to tell. At very least keep a very close eye on him.

sorry about that, I meant to use that as a term of how much weight was actually placed on him, it was not any where near my full weight (barely touched him). He shot out from under my foot pretty quickly, if that makes any difference.

Dont risk it and take him to the vet. I dont mean to be mean but if your ball pythons are gonna be captive BP's, KEEP THEM INSIDE....

No meanness taken, I honestly just had him out for about 10 minutes, not for a romp but just to get some pictures with natural lighting.

I take mine out for pictures all the time. It is by far the best way to get the real colors across when you do not have awesome photo equipment.

If you barely put any weight on him, I would keep an eye out for swelling/bruising and blood from the vent. Taking him to vet for an X-ray is never a bad idea in this case, just may be cost prohibitive if nothing else seems out of place.

I imagine you have learned your lesson there and will be much more careful next time!

    Good to hear.

Did you get a digital copy of the X-Ray? If so please post a pic, always neat seeing x-ray photos... If not, request it from your Vet. They can't give you the originals, but should be more than willing to e-mail you a copy.

Hopefully this wont sound too sketchy or ruin my credibility but the X-rays are not something I can get a hold of.

I'd be more than happy to PM any one who's interested in why : )

What? Were you and Dr. Bruce Banner working late one night in the lab X-raying snakes?
