Uth
So I am getting my snake soon, and I am putting it in a tub and I originally was thinking of just using the Zoo Med Repti-therm UTH but is there a better alternative? One that is more cost effective and just works better all around.

Zoo-Med UTH's are fine for a single tub set up, but flexwatt is better for multi-tub setups.
-
Would flexwatt work for a single tub, or just two? It looks like its much cheaper.

Reptile basics is where i get mine. Do you already have a thermostat to control the heating element?
-
No but I plan on purchasing the Herpstat 2 no matter which heating method I choose.

If you do decide to go with a UTH, Reptile Basics also sells the Ultratherm. That is a much better choice than a Zoo-Med. Better quality, better price, very safe. :gj:
Because of the wiring involved with flexwatt, I would stick with a uth for a single tub. The flexwatt really becomes economical and practical with multi-tub setups and racks. But to each their own and its certainly not wrong to use flexwatt with a single tub. Just thought I'd offer another perspective. :gj:

Reptile basics will wire it for free so it really isn't a big deal.

would a 6"x11" ultra therm be big enough for a 23x16x6 tub?

Yes it would, and would be a good choice for your set up, in my opinion.

Yes, that should be just about right. I agree with Slim that it would be a good choice for your setup. :gj:
