Record breaking 500 million lotto

So the mega million didn't have a winner on Tuesday, and the jacket pot went up to 476,000,000 million and projected to be 500 when friday comes. I'm wondering anyone who's playing, what's some of this first things you would do with it and how much you'd spend right off the bat! I know id blow a couple million easily lol

Pay off my student debt, buy a Ferrari, and quit my job.:D

Consult a lawyer, give a crap ton to USARK, build a modest house.

Hire a team of financial advisors to take that money and make me a billionare.

I'd probably send a huge percentage of it (up to $400mil) to a variety of my favorite organizations and efforts. And a pretty good amount to debunk HSUS. I'm not a crazy humble person or anything, but seriously, wth would I do with $500mil?!?! From there, I'd probably blow a few million, get myself a dream home and fully furnish it, and then invest the rest in schooling for me and my hypothetical descendants.

My parents would have a new house and would never work another day in their lives...my brothers would be taken care of.

I'm the type of person that could easily blow through that much money in a short period of time, so I always choose annuity option when I buy tickets...that way I'm at least guaranteed a check for the next 30 years. I'd definitely hire someone to handle my money and advise me in my expenditures.

Im not gunna list everything i would do but one thing i would definetly do is finally be "that guy" who brings like $20K to an expo and just buys one of those really expensive snakes. Whenever a vendor has one on display for a crazy price like that, i always ask if they think theyll sell it. and they always say probably not but it makes a good display snake to get peoples attention. I wanna be that guy that just walks up and whips out a wad of cash and buys it lmao

Lump sum, after taxes, you're looking at $220 million. First thing I would do is get set up for the following tax year, because it will be here before you know it.

Then go to Vegas pull some of the most hedonistic crap since the reign of Caligula....:D

After taking care of my family and a few close friends, I would find the users who have been helping me so much with all my n00b questions and buy them any freekin snake they want, and i would donate a ton of it to reptile rescues and such. :D wouldn't go to crazy (except with my snake room) as far as outlandish things in my new house but it would be pretty awesome just the same :)

HMMM. This is something I always ponder :D.

I think a top 3 is a good way to do it..

First > Homes for my siblings, parents, and myself (definitely with a LARGE reptile room and all my favorite reptiles)
Second > Large lump to save and pass down to the next generation of lil h00blahs
Third > Not sure :D... As long as my family and I are taken care of, the rest is whatevers. I'll definitely live in a modest house and I'll ensure I have enough money to properly house, raise, and maintain a healthy life for my reptiles (imagine a luxurious tegu cage!).

Everything after that is just extra luxurious. I don't really care about cars. I don't really want a giant mansion that I can get lost in... Imagine cleaning it???... I would probably hire people to invest to ensure my money grows... Definitely must put some funding into anti-pet legislation for my reptiles... IDK if I would just donate to a group of people I've been told to is trustworthy. I'd rather start my own and do it my way with the help of everyone to be honest. I'd probably still work because I love my job :D:D:D. LOL

Well, first off, I see the lottery as a tax on people who don't understand probability. Given that I *do* understand probability, I don't have to pay that tax. :)

That said, if I were to somehow get a $220 million windfall, I'd definitely set both my parents and my fiance's parents up to retire immediately rather than in a few years, give my brother and his wife a good chunk, buy a new house and an old Porsche, and then try to invest the rest wisely and live well.

Where to begin...

In no particular order.

• Pay of personal debt.
• Pay off parent debt (if any) and set them up for the rest of their days..
• Pay off my churches debt and them some.
• Pay off in-laws debt.
• Pay off closest friends debt.
• Buy dream car and truck.
• Build dream house with custom reptile room.
• Start my own reptile themed pet store.
• Provide USARK all the support they need to fight HSUS and PETA.
• Finish out my current work projects and resign.

Build a nice forever home.

Buy my wife a new vehicle.

Pay off every thing.

Actually yesterday, it was only like 400 million and you'd get 259 lump sum.. So with 500 you'd prolly be lookin at around 300 million after taxes which is still more then anyone needs lol.

I understand the probability, and figure there are worse things I could be doing with two bucks a week. I don't smoke (anymore), drink, do drugs etc so I consider this my one naughty little vice.

Anyhow ...

If we were to win, I'd of course take care of family and a couple friends first. We'd buy a nice little house on a ton of acreage so I can finally be a hermit, and pay off the little bit of debt we have left. I'd probably buy a few more snakes, and he'd probably buy himself a few man toys.

I'd like to set up a scholarship for a future herpetology student, donate some to various small rescues and venom labs that could really use it, and then put the rest into the retirement accounts to grow.

Me personally, I would set my parents up for the rest of their life, give my brother a nice amount. Pay all my stuff off and probably quit everything. I'd definitely get someone to handle my money and guide my investments to build the money. I'd buy new house/cars ect.. I like the idea of "that guy" lol I would walk in with a huge stack and just buy the best one there lol. I'd then put a big load in the bank for later life/future generations. Ohhh how great it is it dream, please please let me win!!!!!

I would never play the lotto, winning 500 million is a curse. Lotto winner's lives always end up bad. They are sued by everyone, their families fall apart fighting over money, they become careless with their spending, not saving it or investing it wisely, they become depressed, they are constant targets for con artists.. many become alcoholics or addicted to drugs because of the extreme pressure they feel from everyone you ever knew (and people you don't know) hounding you for money..

If I won I would put half of it into a saving account, 1/4 of it would go to charity, and 1/4 would go to family. Then I would continue working my job. I'd just live in a really nice house with ridiculously expensive reptiles and reptile display rooms.

If you sit around doing nothing for the rest of your life you can loose a sense of self-worth, when you are constantly in pleasure mode on vacation 24/7 buying everything you want whenever you want you can become bored quickly, loose interest in things. All play and no work makes the play much less enjoyable.

For me it is very simple.

Once I paid off our debt { mortgage, credit cards, and a medical bill or two}, I would use a large chunk to set up my mom in comfort, even though she'd hate it and insist she doesn't need anything { you know how parents are :rolleyes:}. I would buy or possibly build myself a decent 2 story house, and get out of this horrid mobile home. I would want a nice piece of property, maybe 25 or 30 acres, not huge, but big enough to own a little livestock if I so choose.

I'd put myself and my son through culinary school, and then open my little dream restaurant. I'd send my daughter to school to become a CSI, which is her dream. My hubby I'm not sure about, I guess his biggest dream is to have a few old cars to restore, which is funny because he knows nothing about such things.

I'd buy myself a nice little car, but I'd keep my minivan for general use. My daughter wants a classic VW bug, so she'd get one. My son wants a pickup truck, so I'd get him a nice little compact truck.

I'd make myself a dedicated snake room, and another for my rodent colony, and a large playroom for my cats, with a fenced run so they could go sit in the sunshine safely.

The rest ? I'd mainly invest it, so my kids and their kids could live comfortably but not lavishly. I want them to work, just not struggle to get by.

There are a few groups I'd donate to, and I'd offer some to my local shelters as well. Mainly I'd be careful about that, because I want what I give to actually help, and not just line some bureaucrats pocket.

And you'd end up in jail for "assault." Freezing the balls *probably* wouldn't make it into a deadly weapon in the jury's eyes, but it would definitely raise the pain level significantly, and the intent to do harm would be obvious.

Of course throwing bricks of money at someone could get you charged with assault, but it was an obviously facetious statement, whereas freezing paintballs and shooting people is more in the realm of something a malicious person might actually do...
