Does any make templates?
-
Nope. I just use iHerp. :D
-
i do not as of yet, generally a note pad on the comp with the info and the dates. this way i am not stuck with a million papers, and can print off the history if the snake is being sold. but i do have a huge dry erase board i use all the time for quick notes

I keep something similar in a composition note book.

If they had an app for my iPad or iPhone I'd use that. But I find my templates easier to keep track since its all digital on my iPad. Maybe one day they'll make an app for the iOS system.

Where do you go for the print outs on history?

How did you make this on the ipad?
This might be a good excuse for me to get one :D

I keep a log on all of my snakes, I record feeding times, length, weight, cleanings, bathroom use and anything else that I feel I should note. I also have a care sheet for each snake, some general info on the species and breeder back ground (Just in case anyone else should have to look after them for me).
-
Re: Does any make templates?
I sure do, it has name, type, morph, hatch date, purchase date etc. in the header and several columns with weight/date, shed/date, feeding/date, and comments on a word document. I like it all on one sheet as it cuts done on effort and reduces the amount of files required.

LOL on the computer, i have a separate folder for each snake, and one master notepad, or word doc with all their information on it as i go along, from what the breeder/seller provided then all information i add to it. if i sell the animal i print a copy of it, and send it along, and i keep my copy in case something is asked after the sale. nothing fancy, but effective, we may switch to printed cards but not sure yet.

I'm also curious about this. I track all my feedings in iHerp, but there's not a specific section to record weights. I sit in my snake room on feeding day and mark everything on dry-erase board, then enter into my iPad at the end. It's just kind of a PITA using iHerp on the iPad sometimes...

Just browse to iHerp's website on your iPad...

Tracking > Add New Tracking > Under the Action section, change it from 'Feeding' to 'Weight' then I enter the weight under the Title section.
-
I use iHerp and have created a custom database in Filemaker Pro advanced (is a nerd)
-
My sister did a similar chart that ralph davis created. It has "Date in" for when I purchased the snake from, the card number, the genetics (killerbee - super pastel x spider), and sex.
Below all the general details, there's a thin column for "Date", then a longer one titled "Action". I managed to fit 3 of the "Date | Action" columns on 1 piece of paper. I just write in "In shed", "Shed!!", "Ate 1 f/t rat fuzzy", "Weight: 311 gms". It seems to work out fine =]. been using it for a month and a half now :gj:. I'll post a picture later :).

Ah, that makes sense. I couldn't find a section for weight when I first started using iHerp, so I just didn't track it there. I just track approximate weights on paper whenever I decide to weigh. I know, seriously scientific approach...
My biggest annoyance using iHerp on the iPad is if I'm entering a feeding after the day it happened. That pop-up calendar on the date selection field is so small, I sometimes hit the wrong date... Oh well, nitpicking now...

Once you click the little calendar icon to change the date and the calendar pops open, you can pinch-zoom into the calendar so its easier to hit the right date then pinch-zoom back out to enter other info.

I use numbers on my iPhone and MacBook. It's a pretty basic spreadsheet but does the job and I can print it and export it into other formats.

I used a homework app called Note Taker HD. I spent some time making the templates so I can create a new folder for a new snake. I use it to take notes on any of my pythons or snakes I may have

I don't know I find this simplier then what I've been reading on iherp. I physically write everything and it feels faster. I feel like if they had an app it'd be more user friendly. I'm all for user friendly kind of things :)

I know exactly what you mean, and I feel the same way! Here's the chart I promised earlier. I printed out a bunch of these, and I'm keeping a blank copy instead I need to just make copies of it :gj:.

Well I know how to use excel. But my app I think works better. And if I knew how to make an app. I would've made a herp app and made some money off of if and then use the money I got from that to buy myself a "good job and hard working" snake for a job well done :D

Re: Does any make templates?
This is the one that I use. I forgot where I got it from originally but I recreated it on excel with some slight tweaks. I like it because I can just put letters for events instead of writing things out. The only drawback is that it has to be half page in size and definitely recommend printing on durable paper like cardstock.

Personally, I have a laptop that stays in with my reptiles running Degei. I can just click the change/update as I go. It allows me to track where the snake came from, goes to, and in between.
Also inventories the feeder rats as I feed them, so I don't have to worry about counting stock for every time I ponder "do I need to order, and what."
Has many other features, like ID cards and useful reports.
I used to do cards and notebooks, but found this to be a touch slower, but easier still. Also saves having record and paper everywhere and needing filing.
The one concern has always been if it craps out on me, what then? This is one advantage to hard copies... so I wrote a .BAT file which backs everything up so I can just reload on another comp if that one fails.

Mine backs up everyday on the iCloud :). Plus I send a hard copy to my email every feeding

I use an excel sheet I made. If someone wants to direct me to a website for a quick, free file upload, I would be happy to share (or PM me for an email attachment). I have a template for a personal budget tracker, too.
Each animal gets a row for Eating, Shed, and 'other' where I'll put things like weights or when the date of the last full cage cleaning was. It's extremely simple and efficient.

I just use a spreadsheet from excel. upadate as needed.

Here's my setup:
All tubs have name (yep I still name everyone!!), sex and genetics
example : Twilight 0.1 Pastel
Then I have a 3 ring notebook and everybody has his/her own tab. And I keep a spredsheet that I made that lists date, activity, asf, mice, sm rat, lg rat. And they get X'x if they do something. And when I sell a snake the new owners get ALL of my records. So they can go back 6 months or even years to see what the snake has done or not done!!
I also have a seperate page for my breeding female that lists hookups, eggs and what hatched.
PM me if you want a copy of the spredsheet!!
