    What to pair him with?
Hey guys, I'm new here, and I'm interested in getting into breeding. Just wondering what you guys think would go best with a male black pastel. I've been looking on World of Ball Pythons and have seen some pretty sweet combos. What do you guys think would look best bred to him? Thanks!

Black Pastels mix well with a lot of other Morphs...Find what you like best and have at it!

I want to keep a low budget, so I'm thinking of picking up a nice single gene female and some normals. However, I was also debating on picking up a really nice female, like a butter or lesser, and keeping some offspring, using the money from the rest to pay for the female. For a nice single gene I'm thinking a pastel or maybe a pinstripe.

Pastels and yellow bellies would be my choice. I would skip the normal's, you're going to make some anyway with your pairings.

So a yellow belly would make sense? I didn't think that they looked as good with black pastel as you would think with a clean up trait.

Since I have limited females available, would a spider or a pastel make more sense? I know black bees are becoming popular, but I am worried about wobble.

A good sized lesser would be too expensive for me, and I can't find any good sized cinnamons either.

Have you seen the ghost black pastels? (hypomelanistic black pastel) Those guys look amazing! Also another good combo is with a mojave. You can make some "black magic". I really love the darker morph combo's. The black pastel is a very underrated morph in my opinion.

If you can find a nice pastel that's what I would do. I just got 2 pastels (1male and 1female) for $275.

A spider would also be cool. I wouldn't worry about wobble. I have a spider and his wobble is only apparent when he gets really excited. Even at its worst for him it isn't an issue at all.

I love black pastel lessers/butters as well as black pastel yellow bellies. I don't think there is any reason to rush, why not just buy a hatchling female of whatever you want and raise it up for a few years before breeding? They are much more affordable that way.

The only problem is that I only have two years before college, and already have a male who is 250+ grams. Trying to get a female of 500 grams is proving to be quite hard, since the only ones I can find under $300 are normals. Thinking of going with a 350 gram pastel, but I don't know if she would be ready to breed in a year. I love ghost/hypo black pastels, but that would mean two breedings, which I don't have time for.

In all honesty, if you are trying to rush I think you picked the wrong animals to breed;)

What are you planning on doing with the snakes when you go to college then...?

I'm planning on keeping my a few of my favorite morphs and selling off the offspring and maybe the parents. I just mean that I won't have time to deal with breeding and incubating. I feel that I can easily take care of a few snakes, but I won't be able to breed. I still have 3 more breeding seasons, which is plenty of time.

If you are trying to rush and get something done before college, I would seriously just wait.....

I'm in college. Trust me you have more free time in college. The bigger question is what happens with your ball pythons when you go to college. I live in an apartment so I can have snakes. It actually costs less if you slips the costs with a room mate.
