Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
Which one do you prefer and why?
From what i can tell it seems like the whole Lesser/Butter situation.
-
They only look alike when you see poor examples of either morph, otherwise a good cinny and a good black pastel are quite different looking imo.
They might be similar but you won't make a black pastel with a cinny and you won't make a cinny with a black pastel.
I believe that butters and lessers work the same way.

X2
I personally prefer the cinny because it looks cleaner to me, but when talking about supers I'd rather have a super black pastel then a super cinny because they are darker.

Re: Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
i want both, but would go with a black pastel first i think, from what ive seen, the super from the bp is always darker, while the super cinny is more gray/pewter ish in color. i havent seen many supers of these though so it could just be the examples ive seen

Re: Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
I bought a super cinny woma today.

We demand to see this animal. :D
(mainly out of pure jealousy)

I would say I want a female black pastel, just because I already have a cinny male LOL but I want males and females of both:O
-
Re: Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
Normally I would say cinny but I have seen some AWESOME black pastels in person and that makes it a super tough call.

I like black pastels, expecially ghost black pastels... one of my fav ghost combos!

Re: Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
I have both and love them both, went with cinnys first then I got into Black pastels, for me the tie breaker would be there combos I believe the black pastel combos are nicer.
-
We like and own both but the super blacks and albino blacks are pretty sweet
-
Re: Black Pastel vs. Cinnamon
I like them both as well, but I lean more towards black pastels. I like the detail on the black pastels' pattern. I also think they pull off most combos better than cinnies too.
-
I prefer black pastels, I like the way they combine with other morphs better. I plan on getting a female black pastel as my first morph, as long as I can find one that meets my expectations :)
The tie breaker for me was how black the super form is compared to a super cinny which appear more of a chocolate color.

I prefer black pastel, i like there pattern....

Looks like I'm in the minority by preferring Cinnamons. A good Cinnamon with deep reds and a good black back... *drools*

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I think i may go for a black pastel breeding pair, they will fit into my breeding plans fairly well and give me a lot of options. :gj:

That is something I've noticed too (and seems to be the consensus with most people). And I think that's why I want to go for them now :D
Again thanks for all the responses everyone, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything REALLY different about them and that it's just preference like butters/lessers.
-
I have both as well and I have noticed black pastels make nicer combos. I also prefer super black pastels to super cinnies :)
-
In terms of breeding, it seems the black pastel creates nicer and more expensive morphs. In terms of the way they look as a single gene morph, I actually prefer cinny's over bp's.

I love cinnies. It was the first morph I really started playing with in the genetic wizard after a spider. I cannot wait to have some. :)

I prefer cinnys. A good quality cinny should look nothing like a black pastel or a normal. A low quality black pastel however, can look like a normal.
When choosing a cinny you should be picky. The kinking issue with supers also seems to run in certain blood lines which is why I purchased my original pair from a line that didn't show these issues like others did and looked nothing like black pastels. Nor did they ever produce bad looking cinnys.
It's really all in the lines. With certain morphs it pays to know where they originated from and you will get what you pay for.
I will always stick up for cinnys knowing these facts and I hate that there are so many mediocre examples out there that are ruining it for them :(

I had a stunning cinni male and I traded him and picked up a Black Pewter female. I love the BP combos, especially with YB. Liesen and Tom Barnhart make some amazing combos. I would love to get into the leisen trick, but outta my price range for now.

Very true, but low quality cinnies can look like normals too. It's all about the quality of the animal. I think the lines are important with both black pastels and cinnies since they vary so much.
My favorite black pastel line is the Gulf Coast Reptiles line, I produced some this year. Hands down the best IMHO.

^THIS^
I think both have their place, just like lessers/butters. I really like both, I chose a black pastel female because she was exactly what I was looking for in that specific morph. A good black pastel will have a a lot of squiggles in their alien heads, unlike cinnamons (or at least that's what I call them). They combos they pull off are out of this world, black albino, black pastel yellow bellies, black pastel ghosts, all of which are some of my favorite morphs. One day I hope to find a perfect black back cinny, they are way too good looking for words.

IMO A low quality Black Pastel can look like a Cinny, but a Cinny should never look like a Black Pastel.
Neither should ever be able to be confused as a normal.
