    No trick or treaters
    I feel so sad...

I went out and got a bunch of candy because I know my condo complex has a lot of kids. I hear them screaming outside a lot while they play. All of our condos have backdoors that face a communal garden/yard area. I was so certain the kids would go condo to condo back there :C

    It's now 8 PM and I haven't seen a single trick or treater... :(

Did you guys get any? I remember back in the day when there'd be streams of trick or treaters down every street... now it's like everyone's afraid to let their kids out. So sad.

It's because of the idiots that drug their kit-kats lol. I got like 3, but I'm in back woods.

That's all urban legend anyhow. :irkd:

I think our doorbell rang three or four times. The whole trick-or-treat scene does seem to be fading into memory. We still live in an active t-or-t neighborhood from time to time, but more often than not, it's very quiet...even in hoods with lots of kids. :(

We live several miles from town and most of our neighbors are Amish, so we don't get any trick-or-treaters here. In town a few local businesses and even fewer houses participate. I think I saw maybe 3-4 small businesses handing out candy and 2-3 houses. Also you can only do it between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Really sad.

We took my 4 year old brother in law went trick or treating the other day a few towns over (they do it the 29th) and we hit up every place in town and he didn't even get enough candy to fill a sandwich bag. I remember when I was a kid and everyone used pillow cases and usually came close to filling them. Trick or treating didn't even start til it got dark, either.

One thing I don't miss, though... Teenagers trick or treating! Especially the teens who don't even wear costumes and the little hoochie mammas who dress like prostitutes. To me this is a kids holiday. Of course, I would get a little bit of satisfaction scaring a bunch of annoying teenagers away with a couple T's and snakes hanging from me when I open the door. ;)

I let my teenage son go out...but he was escorting his younger brother, so it makes sense. I didn't mind the two teens that came to our door tonight...was a chance to get rid of at least some of the candy I'd bought. LOL

I often answer the door with a big snake hanging around my neck...it's always a LOT of fun to see people's reactions when they realize it's REAL.

Not this year though. This neighborhood is primarily old people...VERY ULTRA conservative old people who tend to be a bit busy-body-ish. Very sweet folks...but not a good place to prance about in public with a snake.

none here either. but I know now a lot of towns ( in Delaware ) have a mandate of 12 and under and must be in costume.
Yeah I remember back in the day it was the plastic pumkin bucket and in the car we each had a pillow case. I also remember actually fillnig the pillow case so full that we had to get a small plastic bag to put our over flow in. Now a day it more worried about being mugged, and vechile vandlised
sorry if spellnig off I had a rough day :(

We took our 3 daughters out the borough had it 6-8pm and the houses giving out candy had their porch lights on and they had fire trucks driving around giving out stuff too.... between the 3 kids they got a garbage bag full of drinks, candy and chips (and even a tooth brush)... although will say there was less houses and less kids than last year ... but it was cold and raining :(

My girlfriend wanted to do that with the snake, but I told her no, it was too cold. Maybe another year when the weather is a little more tolerable.

My dad suggested I wear a snake around my shoulders but it seemed like a good way to get negative attention for the snakes.

I don't want them being associated with fear anyway.

We had sooo many. I had to turn off my light when the 10 lbs of candy ran out.

We had about a dozen before I had to leave for work tonight at 7:00 pm, so it looks like before the night is up we will be out of candy. It is really not like it was when I was a kid. We would go out in our neighborhood and hit hit hard from the time the sun went down till people started running us off. I think most kids hit the mall here now.

One thing I did see tonight that bothered me. A mother walking with her kids drinking beer walking door to door. I am not against drinking, I do it myself it just did not seem like the appropriate time to me.

I agree what happened? I used to change costumes and make another round in the neighborhood.

I didn't get a single one!!! I decorated and bought candy and everything. It was prime Tricker Treater territory! I thought we would have lots as I live in a condo complex with a neighborhood in front. Lot's of porch lights on. I am very disappointing.

We had five large bags of candy. Started handing it out at 7, we were cleaned out by 8:30, and that's with only a couple pieces per kid.

Our problem here is that there are a LOT of kids (we live near an elementary school), but not a whole lot of houses were giving out candy. There are whole stretches of dark houses that aren't handing out candy tonight.

So yeah, we were the only house on our side out of about a stretch of 7 that was giving out candy, so the kids were hitting us hard.

We got some, but not many. It makes me sad remembering how busy Halloween was when I was a kid. :(

Its not what it used to be as too many regulations now in areas to keep kids safe.

When i was a kid i would always have 3 costumes. Go out around 8-9 pm, fill one bag up, come home change and do it all over till i was tired. Now kids barely getting a small plastic bucket worth.

I live a neighborhood near the university, plenty of kids live around here.

ZERO trick or treaters on the streets. ZERO stopped by our place. :( sadface

None for us :( -eats candy-

Our street is full of dangerous drivers. We are within a neighborhood--but there is a street that is a very long straight road. We have a lot of car nuts who have fancy vipers, ferraris, etc. whatever who love to race them down the road. Seen cars going 90 down our neighborhood right in front of my house! So..No parents probably let their kids come by here. Lots of sad houses decorated and left their lights on and candy out--no kids showed up at all!

Really? In Valpo some of the dorms even decorate and have kids come through.

Well I don't know if I had any trick or treaters due to me working nights. However I did come home to my entire house being rolled with toilet paper. My shrubs, my shop, and even my truck was wrapped in the mess. They went through a lot of trouble! Not to mention my two full trash cans are strewn across the front yard. Needless to say after a 12 hour work day I'm not in the mood to clean it up at 4 A.M.!!!!

It's so depressing reading this thread and hearing about no trick or treaters :(
Where I live, tons of houses passing out candy and the sidewalks were packed with people. A few houses we saw had HUGE haunted mazes. Walked around for a while with my little one. She got plenty of candy and tons of compliments on her costume. The park by my house was also packed. We stopped by there for a bit and I won "Best Halloween Costume".

Aww that stinks :( We only had 7 this year :( I didn't really decorate this year though, usually our yard is full of decorations, so I think that was my problem. We also have a bunch of candy to eat now...
