We live several miles from town and most of our neighbors are Amish, so we don't get any trick-or-treaters here. In town a few local businesses and even fewer houses participate. I think I saw maybe 3-4 small businesses handing out candy and 2-3 houses. Also you can only do it between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Really sad.
We took my 4 year old brother in law went trick or treating the other day a few towns over (they do it the 29th) and we hit up every place in town and he didn't even get enough candy to fill a sandwich bag. I remember when I was a kid and everyone used pillow cases and usually came close to filling them. Trick or treating didn't even start til it got dark, either.
One thing I don't miss, though... Teenagers trick or treating! Especially the teens who don't even wear costumes and the little hoochie mammas who dress like prostitutes. To me this is a kids holiday. Of course, I would get a little bit of satisfaction scaring a bunch of annoying teenagers away with a couple T's and snakes hanging from me when I open the door.![]()
