Famous Friends
Good Evening, all!
I was thinking it'd be fun to know if any of you out there have famous friends or have ever been associated with anyone who is now famous.
Here's mine: Went to junior high with Kim Caldwell (a girl that lost on American Idol but later became miss TV guide, hah). Good friends with the artist who is responsible for Adult Swim TV shows (creating Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters and background art, Squidbillies background art.. along with past employment at major networks) My husband is an ex-bmx rider and made friends with a lot of pro bmx guys. He was never pro. He didn't want to pay for further injuries! :D
So? Anybody else?
-
This could get interesting! Peyton Manning knows (or at least used to know) me by name...I used to caddy for him during the summers. Not really a friend but hey!
-
I went to school with and graduated from High School with Frank Calliendo. He played on the baseball team. He wasn't that funny back then.

Yeah, same here with Kimberly Caldwell - she intimidated the heck out of me. She was a blonde bombshell at 15. I knew her, never knew her well.
-
My ex (still a good friend) was in a local band years ago that opened for Cradle Of Filth. We kept in touch with a couple of them. Our keyboardist (I was in the stage show a couple times and at every show & practice) danced on stage with Cradle and Dimmu Borgir every time either of those bands came to Chicago.
My first cousin is Mike Alstott. He's famous for playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His parents live right behind me. We went to the same highschool. He was our paper boy back in the day.
I don't personally know any movie stars though. I have a cousin who was an Olympic swimmer and another who was a professional bowler who was on TV quite often.
That's about it lol!

Re: Famous Friends
This is probably inappropriate, but I have met a few adult film stars.
I even kissed Jessica Jaymes. Like a peck.
And only because I could say I did.
lol
-
Adult film is still film :) we had a German relative in the winter Olympics. Don't know him.. too far down the family tree.
-
Oh and I'm long time personal friends with a magician/mentalist who does shows in Vegas but I doubt anyone here would know him. His stage name is Israel Mandrake.
Not really famous people but my dad and uncles were friends with every city official in my area including secretary of state, Mayor, and some judges.. That really helped when I got my drivers license and would get tickets lol!
-
i used to live in west chester pa. drank a lot of beer with the guys from jackass. johnny knoxville is as funny in person as he is/was on jackass and bam is an even bigger DB in real life. ryan dunn is probably one of the nicest people youll ever meet.
thats about it. :weirdface

Pam Melroy
Not exactly a household name, but..
- Air Force Colonel
- Flew combat in Just Cause (Panama) and Desert Shield/Desert Storm.. I THINK she flew AC-130s in Iraq but I can't remember for sure, just seem to remember it was a low, slow-flying gunship
- Air force test pilot
- NASA shuttle pilot
- Second ever female NASA shuttle mission commander
I got to see her launch back in October 2007 from the closest outdoor viewing platform, the family got an invite :D
I'm also a descendant of TWO American Revolution generals (one on each side of the war, interestingly, one a direct descendant and the other some kind of great-great-great....-great uncle), and I have a direct ancestor in the original founding Jamestown colony.
EDIT: Pam's wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pam_Melroy

A good childhood and still close friend is on The Deadliest Catch. We have a lot of crab fisherman out of Seattle. He's been crazy his whole life. Good guy though. We hang out all the time still.

Re: Famous Friends
Time for some name dropping, LOL! I have many "famous connections," due mostly to my father and sister - who both work/ed in rather high-profile jobs. I also know a few celebs more randomly, either from my old ice skating days or just living in the Bay Area. Here are some that come to mind...
Alicia Silverstone - We took semi-private ballet classes together, and also belonged to a local community theater. I hate to say it, but she was not my favorite person... let's just say, her character in "Clueless" wasn't a far stretch.
Brian Boitano, Kristi Yamaguchi, Debi Thomas, Rudy Galindo, etc - All part of the '80s figure skating scene, which I was a part of for 10ish years. We're still in close touch with Debi & Kristi, who are both the nicest people EVER.
Various San Francisco 49ers (including coaches & the owner), Mia Hamm, and Brandi Chastain - Met or associated with them through my sister, and I actually started dating a former player recently. He will remain unnamed for now. ;)
Jesse McCartney (the pop singer) - My step-brother is very good friends with him, and he's been to a few of our family functions. Such a sweet guy!
Vanessa Williams, Arnold Schwarzenegger, most of the Shriver family, Johnny Knoxville, the Farrelly brothers, and a few more random folks - All connected through my father, and his work with the Special Olympics.
-
I play World of Warcraft with the guy from these commercials:
It'sBobWeHadABabyIt'sABoy (Anybody else remember it? =))
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JxhTnWrKYs He's the one calling his parents.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yUtwqWLlc4 ump
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew9cEATPzDE runs into elevator naked. He said they rented out one floor for the commercial, and to make the shot work, he had to run into the elevator and go down a floor.... which was not rented out.. so the people downstairs got to see a naked man. haha.
That's about as exciting as my famous acquintances go.

Who? I love Deadliest Catch and used to live in Alaska! I could never do what they do, but I'd be happy even going a couple miles out on a salmon boat, but my wife says no way in hell. :(
I'm somehow related to the actor, Anthony Rapp (Dazed and Confused, Road Trip). Never met him, not really a fan of him.
I went to school with Brett Keisel (#99 Pittsburgh Steelers) and his mom, Connie, was one of my teachers and a family friend. Man my sister had a crush on him and my mom, who is a nurse used to rub it in her face that she has given him many shots in the butt. Haha! I vividly remember when our high school school guidence counseler told Brett, when he was playing for the Greybull Buffaloes, that he should give up his dream of becoming an NFL player and he should focus on a REAL future. Brett is a millionaire living out his dream right now while our old guidence counselor is eating crow.
I know Adam and Alex Rydlinski, Nick Forkel and Jason Hippert (ex TN) from Turbid North. My old band used to open for them a lot back home in Alaska when they first started out and we would often jam together and party on occasion. Adam is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet and one hell of a drummer. Jason is pretty cool too, he was my manager at a Blockbuster I once worked at. Thats how we originally met. I miss these guys!
-
My buddy is the rambunctious Jacob Jolibois on the Kodiak fishing with Captain Bill. He's a nut.
Regards,
B

I knew Lance Bass of N'sync, have had dinner with Archie, eligh and Payton manning (really good people).

Thats fun, they always reminded me of guys my brothers would hang out with. Just having fun and doing whatever stupid stuff they wanted while they were young and still able. I totally believe everything you said about the guys. I would love to meet them.
Im lame and from ND...I know no famous person on a name basis. lol
Ive met famous people but only like a shook hand kind of thing.
Oh well.
-
No you wouldn't... Dani is a very unsocial jerk lol! Seriously. He barely said 2 words to us and we spent the entire day partying with them. Now Gian.. He's awesome. He will sit and talk to you for hours. He's absolutely fascinated by western culture. He's especially jealous that we can have guns and go shooting but they can't in England.

Well most frontmen have the ego...
I always loved Gians rockin red and black dreds! I have a DVD of theirs and theres like a bunch of clips of them getting all wasted and such on tours and he seems like the most fun guy to hang out with out of the whole bunch.
Thats cool that youve hung out with them.

Friends, not really, I did go to school with Chris Murphy of Slone. Sometimes I do work in and around film so I have met some, I had lunch with Judy Dench (who is lovely and very strong woman I really have a lot of respect for her after speaking with her for a while), Kevin Spacey (they both have photos of mine in their private collections that is really exciting for me!!) , Sandra Bullock (remember that song she ain't pretty...) and Harrison ford we spoke briefly so I am not sure that counts for much but a really nice guy very interesting he brought a float plane with him.
-
My mom's uncle is the famous trumpeter Chuck Mangione. I guess that makes him my 2nd uncle??? I don't know how that stuff works. I never met him, but I wouldn't mind establishing a relationship before he passes away...lol.

Re: Famous Friends
The only person I know who is not a major star that people might recognize is a good friend of mine from high school (still very good firends to this day) Adam Ciesielski (he goes by Adam C. Edwards now for whatever reason). He plays the part of Tyhurst in that new Teen Wolf series thing on MTV (don't really know much about that show). He was just in a movie with the dude from Children of the Corn who played Malachai not long ago called the Quiet Ones. Malachai (Courtney Gains) played my buddies father in that movie.
-
This is cool...
Let's see my barber is Dwayne Wade's cousin, one of the team members from the Miami Dolphin's trains at the gym my neighbor owns (my neighbors are almost family to us), my neighbor is also friends with Jaime Fox. My stepfather redid all of Diddy's surveillance cameras in his home on Star Island and I met his some there, we talked crap for like an hour. My stepfather also did Hilary Duff's house in L.A., the Sean John store in NY. I personally know a girl who did a promo poster for Fast Five, she's not famous but she's getting known locally. My roommates cousin is an actor trying to make it in L.A. as I type, he's done a few commercials and has had numerous callbacks for popular TV shows. He's not famous yet either, but I have faith this kid is gonna make it. He's even got an imdb profile lol.
Oh and I personally know the guy who won a bodybuilding contest for the biggest teen back in like 08 I believe. This guy's a monster.
-
i have a cousin that works with bill gates :D ive never met him before though but im met a few ufc fighters do they count? lol
-
I am supposedly related to Dennis Farina according to my dad's side of the family. I wish I could find out if it's true or not, and how. I actually get asked about it occasionally. I tried looking at the Ancestry site but you have to pay even for the "free trial." Screw that. I guess it will just be a big unknown.
-
I'm related to Lizzie Borden (you know...gave her mother 40 whacks?) lol not by blood but by distant marriage. My older sister found this info while researching our family tree for a class :D

Through the years I have met and hung out with several famous people, but would call them acquaintances. I have only one that is actually a friend and I have known him for 20+ years and that is Matt Hines of NHRA Pro Stock Bike.

No celeb friends but I met or ran into a lot of celebrities when I worked in LA. Only two of them I ever really spoke to. I used to smoke a cigarette with John Voight a couple of times a week. He seemed pretty cool. The conversations were always just small talk. I also had lunch with Lenny Kravitz once. He was a really nice guy.

My aunt is Lisa Stark on ABC World News tonight. My Uncle is Dr. Bruce B. Dan who wrote the section on Disease in the Encyclopedia Britannica. Also, my Cousin is the Actor Johnathan Dane. Our real last name is Dan, but he added the "e" so it would be easier to remember. He hasn't hit is "Big" yet, but he's had small parts on shows like "All My Children" and was even on Grey's Anatomy for an episode.

when i was growing up my mother was engaged to the brother of bill harris former assistant coach at michigan. then his neice married corwin brown of the pats, jets and lions i got to go to some of the family functions with the players and had thanksgiving and christmas dinner at home a couple of times with corwin and desmond howard.
my mom's boss also works for the redwings and went to a couple bbqs at his house and a couple times a few wings players and coaches were there yzerman, bowman, and mccarty are the ones i really remember the most.
i ran into ice t when i was 10 or 11 at a hotel he was cool enough to sign a few autographs take a few pics and just take to us for about an hour or so.
and when i used to work at a machine shop our tool supplier was reggie mckenzie former guard of the bills and seahawks he used to take us to lunch once about once a month (it was a very small shop)

My dad was very good friends with the famous racecar driver, Joe Nemecheck. He also went to school with Joe, worked for Joe's father and used to party with Joe all the time. They pretty much stayed friends until Joe started to pick up on his career.
I went to school with a girl who was the daughter of Dedrick Dodge, who played for the San Francisco 49ers adn the Denver Broncos. Even though she's not famous, her father is and I think that counts. She wasn't my friend though. She was a snob, and that's me being nice.
And this is my old friend Kevin, who I went to school with throughout my entire life. Elementary school, middle school and high school. He now plays for the Harlem Globetrotters and it's good to see someone as awesome as him doing something that he loves.
http://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/t.../?player_id=29
I've met a few celebrities, but I can't consider them friends.
