Lysol Wipes for Cleaning?
I looked up a few threads on this and didn't really get a good answer from any of them. I pretty much use Lysol wipes for everything around my house so I buy it in bulk (I have a 4 y/o son...nicknamed Hurricane Jake for a reason lol). I was wondering if anyone ever uses them to clean their tubs? I have a RBI rack, and curious if they are safe to use. I'd rinse with hot water and soap afterwards and dry out if I was to use them. I've been using a bleach/water solution to clean them but it just takes forever sometimes, and the Lysol wipes have a scrubby side :D
Edit: I use newspaper as substrate, not sure if that matters or not. I just change it out, clean it, then replace with new newspaper.

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what is the difference other than Lysol wipes tend to be more "wet"? Is there a difference in the solution?

Clorox is made by the makers of bleach and is a bleaching wipe.
Lysol was designed mostly for bathrooms, which have harsher chemicals. If you can find a lysol wipe that is a bleach wipe then youll be fine..

Ah, well that makes perfect sense thank you. I never really was "attached" to Lysol it just always seems to be what I grab when grocery shopping lol.

Why not just chlorohexidine? Cheap, works great, and safe for your animals. I clean up right after messes and never needed to scrub with anything except paper towels.

I've heard to use that, but I don't know where in the heck to find it other than online and pay $25 for a bottle and then shipping. Any ideas?

http://www.reptilebasics.com/chlorhexadine-16oz
Will run about 18 shipped.. And is plenty for small collections

Let me put in yet another plug for Natural Chemistry Healthy Habitat. All natural....I buy a gallon and for my small collection it lasts a long time. I spray it on, then by the time I get the papertowels to wipe it up, it has dissolved the poop...no scrubbing. It is well worth the money. I get mine from RBI.

This may be a stupid question but is there any difference between the stuff sold by reptile basics and this: http://amzn.com/B0040V1RES ? or this: http://amzn.com/B00061MU9W ?

The Clorox wipes I have gotten are not bleach. They are ammonium chloride, alcohol, and have all kinds of other fillers and fragrances. I don't trust them for cleaning any of my animal cages.

There is the ingredient list for you. Personally, I use Dawn and hot water, or if it gets really disgusting diluted bleach. Obviously, the choice is up to you, but I wouldn't put them near a cage.

Re: Lysol Wipes for Cleaning?
Hey I just cleaned my bp today and thats what I used because I ran out of bleach and thats all I had. Its a nice day so i scrubbed everything down then rinsed in in hot water and set it on the porch to dry. Everything seems fine, no smell or anything. I would say yeah go ahead but not all the time.

I use it too, but the problem is that it is really just a cleaner and deodorizer. I don't think that it disinfects anything. I'm wondering if something like F10SC or chlorohex could be mixed/diluted with it and turn it into an all-in-one deodorizer/disinfectant that can be used as needed without rinsing.
Doing my monthly/bi-monthly disinfecting with bleach water takes forever with all of the soaking, rinsing, and drying that has to occur before PAM can be applied.
Sigh. I just read the description for chlorohex and saw that there is no need to rinse/dry. I've wasted SO much time over the past few months with bleach and I am so pissed off right now... lol. Now I just need to find out if I can mix the stuff in with Healthy Habitat.
