She's super nice looking, I love the tail pattern on the last 1/3 of her! Was she sold to you as a yellow belly? From the pictures she looks like a nice normal, but a belly shot can clear everything up for sure.

    Thanks for the compliments.
She was sold to me as a Ball Python, that's it. I had assumed she was a Yellow Belly from what I have been researching online. I will get a nice pic of her underbelly the next time I take her out. Thanks.

Nice looking snake and welcome to the wonderful world of reptiles!

By the way, she is in the blue (~middle stage of her shed cycle). I like to leave my snakes alone during their shed cycle, unless I know they will eat for me (some don't).

Yes I finally got to notice the blue eyes tonight and set my mind at ease, because she has been spending a lot of time in the water lately and was worried she may have had mites. But I did a lot of researching and waited on treating her as I was pretty sure she was starting her shed. Thanks.

Sometimes it is not what it seems! She could be warm, she could be dry, or she could just feel like going for a swim :) Likely, she is dry and preparing for the shed in the next few days.

What is the humidity like in her enclosure?

I was keeping it between 52-54 but now that I saw her eyes I have bumped it up to 70-72.

Thanks all. Glad to be here. Learning a lot already. As soon as I found out I was getting a Ball Python I started furiously soaking up everything I could from the net. Want to be able to provide her with a healthy happy home.

I will probably be asking a lot of questions on here too, but I do searches and try to find out first before posting the same question you have all heard many times.:)

Sounds like she's in good hands there :) Nice to see when new keepers are so willing to learn as much as they can in order to give the animal a proper, happy home! As for what she is, she looks like a nice normal with a very cool pattern and some flames, but a belly shot would definitely help others identify whether or not she is a morph.

Thank you for the compliment. We do our best to provide the best home possible for all our pets. I will definitely get a belly shot next time I have the chance, probably tomorrow because I do take her out and handle her everyday.

I agree a belly shot would solve everything. She looks to be normal but either way she looks good

BTW, the plants are stapled to the roof where she is hanging out, the duct tape is just there to cover the staples so she doesn't accidentally hurt herself. The floor and walls are covered in plexiglass with a plexiglass vent on the side and the big one in the top. There is a heating pad under the plexiglass on the hot side as well. Digital thermometer and hygrometer as well. Using Critter Care as her substrate.

From all the pics I have seen online and looking at her, she does seem like a YB to me. I will definitely post some underbelly pics to make sure though.

I can see her belly in the third pic of the enclosure pics. Sure does look like a yellow belly. Very nice.

    She's a cutie, for sure! :)

One thing, though... I would suggest removing the duct tape, or replacing it with a loose painter's tape. Snakes are VERY good at getting stuck, and tape can really do some damage to their scales. I know you put it there to cover the staples, but IMO she's less likely to hurt herself on staples than with tape. Otherwise the enclosure looks great!

P.S. Or you could ditch both the staples and the tape, and use a glue gun instead... they work beautifully for reptile enclosures. :gj:

Thanks. I will do that then. Get rid of the tape, staples and try the glue gun. I just want to make sure it is solid, she loves climbing up the plants and hanging out and I wouldn't want the plants to let go and have her fall down from the top of the enclosure.

Wow, that enclosure is awesome!! Did you make that yourself? And for sticking things inside the cage, I second the glue gun recommendation. Just add more and more glue as she gets heavier if she continues to like combing up there :)

From the picture where her belly is visible she looks like she has a yellow belly belly, so it appears that you have a really cool looking surprise yellow belly :P

I did not make the enclosure, I bought it off Kijiji. It used to be an old Laura Secord display case that was modified to be a snake enclosure. I normally build all my own stuff, but the price was right so I opted to go that way this time.
I am going to remove the tape and staples and replace it with glue as well.
I am glad so many people agree that this is a YB. I was 95% positive it was. Thanks again all.

Thanks. And I'll be getting rid of the tape soon. Picking up some more plants tomorrow, so when I add the new ones I will use glue on all of them instead.

I tried to get a few pics of her belly tonight, they didn't turn out the best, batteries were almost dead. I will pick up more tomorrow morning on my way home from work and try again.

Jaxx has completed her first shed for me as of today, found the old skin in her hotside hide. Everything seemed to go smoothly, no issues with eyecaps either. She even took a nice dookie in the hide after her shed, so she is all set for another nice meal tomorrow when I get home from work.
Picked up 2 mice for her today, just didn't have time to feed her before I had to come into work tonight.
