I think a kink would usually be in the tail area.

A kink can actually be anywhere in the spine.

Did this girl say where the kink was ? A kink can be tiny, just a barely noticeable bump or knot in the spine, or it can be very severe, to the point the snake has a right angle bend in it's spine that is permanent.

So it is possible it has a small one, we would need to see the entire spine to tell you.

I don't see any kink in either of those pictures.

I suppose it's possible it is so small you'd need to see it in person to find it, but I have my doubts it is there at all. From the top, if I try really hard, I can almost make myself see a kink.
I suppose if the snake cannot straighten it's neck out, then that would be a kink. But from the pictures it looks like the snake is just naturally curving it's neck. Did you ever notice that the snake did not straighten it's neck out completely ?

Did she say the kink was a problem for her ? Is she angry or wanting to change the trade ?

Does she think you traded her a defective snake on purpose ?

I wish you all the best with this. I am not an expert, but I still don't see anything that screams "kink" to me.

I had this snake since Christmas and I never noticed any kink and it straightened its neck out and it had no problem eating. If you notice in the pics(look at keyhole on top on neck)one pose is curved one way and the other pose is curved the other way. She emailed me today and it just said "It would have been nice to know that the Mojo had a neck kink". I feel from that, that she thinks I scammed her with a bad snake. They problem is I drove a distance to make the trade and I don't want to go back with the high gas prices we have! If she wants to trade back then she will have to drive here. I think it's only fair i she want to make the trade. She never mentioned she wanted to trade back though! I thought I would get an outside option before responding to her! Thanks!

I see no kink in those pics. could be too small to see but I agree with she should drive to you or at least meet you halfway.

Well technically from those pics, the snake's neck is curving in the same direction, but is seems different curves due to the angle of the pictures. Either way, without more pictures or a video, the snake looks like a normal snake in those pictures =P

If you look at the keyhole on the top, in the first pic it is on the inside of the curve and on the second pic it is on the outside of the curve. Here are some of my pics I have:

    Hi,

Before anyone drives anywhere it would be a good idea to ask her for better pictures of the kink - as close and in focus as she can.

I can't see any kink in those pictures but it can't hurt to see a few more. And it won't cost anyone anything but time.

The first two pics are close ups of the apparent kink!

    Hi,

Then I would ask her to take more shots on a higher contrast background like a white sheet and draw a ring around the affected area because I see zero kink in those photos.

Agreed :salute: Because I don't see a kink in any of those pics. Not saying there is no kink but with those pics I can't see a kink.

You'd think that if she noticed It so quickly everyone else would easily be able to see it in the close up. I don't see one. But again it doesn't mean there isn't one. Tell her to do like a Side shot of the snake as well as any different angles. We may be able to see or not see it then. But different angles rather than the Birdseye would help.

I can't see a kink either, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. You would have to be able to feel down the spine, and if it did have one it would be very minor.

I'd ask her for an overhead picture of the supposed kink, and ask her to circle it.

At least I'm not the only one who can't see a kink.

Re: Do you see a kink?
What I'm reading here is that the other party is disappointed in discovering a small kink that neither of you know about until after the trade. She probably discovered it through feeling the spine and now that she knows it's there she sees it. If she planned to breed the snake she now has the dilemma of whether or not to breed a snake she knows is not perfect. Some key points here are:
    1) You were not aware of any kinking and did not intentionally deceive her.
    2) Since you drove to complete this deal, I'm assuming you met in person and she had the opportunity to inspect the animal for any defects before parting company and considering it a done deal.
It's probably no-win situation for either of you so try not to get too defensive or upset and I wish you both the best in working it out.

The trade was made in person and she played with the snake for about 10 minutes and loved him. Three days later I got the email!

yeah that alone would make me question her character. she inspects it for at least ten minutes and completes the transaction. even if there is a small kink that neither of you noticed before, its like test driving a used car and having it checked out by a mechanic, if you or the mechanic find nothing wrong with it that day but then it rains weeks later and you find you have a hole in the roof lining of your new convertible there's not much you can do. ;) lmao.

I sent her the link to this thread, then I talked to her and she does not want to trade but but said it would have been nice to know! She said it's hard to capture on a pic but in person it is obvious. She also asked me if I had any more morphs to sell so I don't think she thinks the I intentionally scammed her and that was my biggest concern because I don't want that kind of rep! I got some eggs baking that I plan to sell! Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Based on the pictures provided, I don't see any kinks, and i have had the opportunity to see some severely kinked animals and some not so severely kinked animals in person as well as in pictures.

I'd also ask for additional images with the supposed kink well documented, either by labeling or video or whatever.

IF it were me, I'd get better documentation of the kink, and if its actually there provide a partial refund. It can be chalked up to a newbie type mistake, but if someone doesn't know how to look over an animal for a healthy specimen I most likely won't be offering any animals to them in the future. The bigger problem is; is the kink something the animal hatched with, or did it happen while it was in the care of the keeper? Prime example: My first snake, as a hatchling was perfect, until I snagged her tail in the lid of her cage. Now she's got a bump on the end of her tail (you can't see it since she's 2000 something grams, but I know its there). It doesn't show up in pictures either.

It was a trade so there would be nothing to partially refund. I traded a Mojave Male and a Pinstripe Male for her Albino Male. I offered to reverse the trade but she said no she still wants the snakes! I bought them off of a very reputable local breeder that I don't think would sell me a defective animal since we do alot of business together and I had the Mojave for 4 months and never noticed a kink. It took her 3 days to notice it. It may have happened in her care, I don't know! In the end, everyone is happy!!!
