Its been a week since the swelling. And its definately getting bigger. No signs of going down. Just inflating. Last week on I believe Wednesday I frst noticed a small swell. Than the next day a little bigger so I assumed ovy and thru my pastel in there and a little later they locked up for 24+ hrs. Than no more lock ups this week. I know there were no more cuz he's no minute man. Its always been 24-36 hrs of continued lock. Than he let's off for a week or soo.

Thanks he is a real gorgeous pastel and if I had a better camera, you'd see his browning is realy very light gold and his yellows are super bright and the oranges are crisp.

If its an ovy what's next? Sorry noob "?"

You're going to watch out for a post ovulation shed and start your egg countdown. 30 days from when she sheds you should look for eggs. then to the incubator they go my friend. my female just got done ovulating as well so we are on similar schedules.

she's got some tail suck for SURE.. and im gonna check and see if she's pink belly still. its about time for a shed but since her last shed in early jan, well she fed thru jan, and to the first week of feb. now she's off feed.

dont they continue feeding if they are building folicles?

Some quit eating early on well before building and others will eat all the way up to ovulation.
I've heard of a few eating after ovulation but haven't had mine do that.

Re-looking at the pics I agree, too swollen to not be an ovy especially if you see tail suck, congrats :gj:

    congrats????????

you mean theres eggs in this chick???
like i said this is my first season and i really need to know if you HONESTLY FEEL
the tail suck and swell and info i have given indicates gravid. like she's got eggs on the way.
i dont have an incubator because i wasnt sure if she was even gonna
go. she had been locking since early november with this same pastel.
so i had expected to not get eggs.

i know its asking alot, but say the word and ill have the incubator tomorrow and
set up before you finish reading this post!

    p.s.

she's got the pastel in there with her right now again and she aint havin it. no wagging no scenting. ZIP.
she's on the hot spot alot, more than usual. and she dont want nothing to do with locking up.

Palpate her after the ovulation and you should be able to feel eggs.
If you can't do you know anyone who can palpate her for you?
If and assuming that is an ovulation you have about 45 days to be ready for eggs.

well i dont know anyone who can palpate but i did feel lumps when i ran her thru my hand feeling her sides.
she basically slithered thru my hand (palm to her spine)
and pinched her sides a lill
and i felt a few bumps.
this was about 2 weeks ago.

wow, im so excited. so should i be (assuming its ovy)
waiting on a shed? to start the count down?

I've had some stop feeding before I drop temps, and one of my best breeders never goes off feed.

In fact, she ate the day before she laid last season!
