Another ghost question, I finally have a shed from him now what
I remember in past posts that Im looking for a clear shed, well the shed is totally clear with a light yellowish tint does this yellowish tint its not a ghost. I will post pics later im sure they would help. trying to figure out if he is a pastel or a hypo pastel. thanks
-
Re: Another ghost question, I finally have a shed from him now what
"Clear" means that none of the snake's pattern shows on the shed skin...it doesn't mean it's crystal clear. ;) Sounds like you got a good ghost shed to me. :D
-
IM PUMPED. Ill post pics but im almost sure he is. thats awesome ya none of his pastel bands or blushing is on the shed. ill post pics up on here tonight thanks.:O:)
-
"pastel bands"? What are those? I didn't realize that there was a certain banding associated only with pastels.
-
theres not i was just lacking a better descriptive term for pastel markings thanks for the clarification. IM PISSED ABOUT KOVU lol jk. . . he was a beauty

If you had been just a few days earlier. Yea sorry, that sucks. It would have been much cooler hooking you up than some one else. We have another litter on the way, who knows.

JLC.. is this in fact a clear shed? i know its hard to see but. im crossing my fingers the guy i bought him from said he is a het ghost and not a ghost thats why im questioning I totally trust this breeder and what not but he is quite an example of a pastel het ghost then if that makes sense also I was looking online and orange ghost pastels run for like 5 hundrd bucks is that true?

It's hard to tell from the pics. It looks mostly clear, but it also looks like there's some pattern on the part near your fingers. Hopefully some of those with experience breeding ghosts will chime in, I'm hardly an expert in such matters. I also don't shop for snakes, so can't really comment on how much POGs normally go for. Sorry!

thats why i spread it out with my thumb thats the side top part of the shed. anyways just went and took more pics so i can help everyone HELP ME lol get to the bottom of this.

the shed was tearing along the ridge of his back so I couldnt get the perfect shot, Im not doing it intentionally I like him if he is a ghost or not just want to asses it for future breeding purposes and what not. I hope those 2 new ones help I will be more than happy to take a pic of them away from the wall or on a dif surface but I thought it would come out the best ont he wall and easy to mount. let me know im open to suggestions just want to get to the bottom of it. THANKS to everyone:banana:

It looks like a pastel ghost to me!
:gj:
It's certainly not just a pastel.
-
Re: Another ghost question, I finally have a shed from him now what
I don't see any pattern - that's for sure. Have you contacted the breeder you got him from with updated pictures of him now that he has some size on him to see if he still believes he's just a het hypo?
-
nope should I. hes a pretty nice guy but he was almost rude, kept correcting me and saying it was just a het LOL. Ill have to forward him some pics and see what he thinks. I think he is gorgeous though even though I dont really have a desire to steer into the ghost direction. and if he is a ghost he is a green ghost and I havent seen any green ghosts for sale ANYWHERE .
THis is probably irrelvent but I chose him because of his vlushing on the head its almost a super pastel. does this also correlate with hypos? random lol
-
Yeah, that's a pretty clear shed IMO. I have multiple sheds left over from a baby pastel if you want to compare?
(Did anybody else see: "I finally have a shed from him, now what?" and think: "Sell it on Craigslist for $20" ?)

Yes, hypo will blush out the head as well. He IS a stunning animal!
-
i almost thought that was a ghost or super before i read all the post.
my pastel's shed always has the blacks and sections of blushings on the shed.
i didnt know that a clear shed is an indication of ghost-ness. since i know mine is a
normal pastel and i have complete sheds of his in perfect condition
(i love collecting them. have been since they all came home.)
i can post them and you can have a normals shed to compare to your GORGEOUS dudes!
:bow:hands down:bow:
one of the nicest "pastels" i have ever seen! congrats!
-
thank you i appreciate it. I am really happy with him. what do pastel hypos usually retail for. and why havent I ever seen any green ghosts? if I see any they are Orange ghosts? just an observation, when i did talk to the breeder he said that its parent was imported. I can pull up the email again for the specifics and that his imported green was breed with some one ( forgot name) pastel or somthing But ya I am curious to find out what he is worth even though i plan on keeping him I found a similar one on fauna a "orange ghost" that was under 200 g for 485 dollars.
-
You can find green Hypos on Fauna for sure and some times on Kingsnake. They aren't too common because they are not compatible with the other Hypo lines. You can find POG's for in between 400-600 usualy. Thats also depending on size, sex and looks.
-
actually i cant find them on fauna LOL! I have been watching for the past 6 months. maybe prior to that but im an avid fauna follower just to let u know and I have not seen ONE GREEN GHOST. just a heads up maybe king but def not fauna. if you couldfind evidence to prove otherwise please do but I have been watching closely. thanks for the input though .:colbert:
-
I did see one on KS like 6 months to a year ago. But mostly I just see hets for sale. Too bad, I like the greens!
-
I don't see many ghosts at ALL on fauna... regardless of what 'kind'. I got an amazing deal just recently on my new ghost boy, and I can't wait to pair him up with some of my girls.
-
Re: Another ghost question, I finally have a shed from him now what
Looks like you have a super pastel to me. Instead of checking the sheds, just look at his yellows on his back/sides. If the yellow has depth, it's pastel/super pastel and maybe het hypo. If the yellow looks muted, blunt, or just no depth at all. He's defiantly got hypo in him.
Another way to tell takes a lot of time. Hypo's get lighter with age, and fade out. While Pastel's get darker with age.
A closer pic of him would be great.
-
closer? like to a pattern or a section of his pattern? he was my first ball after I sold all of my Beardies. so i love showing him off. he is one of the tamest to. ILL TAKE AS MANY PICS AS U WANT LOL JUST DIRECT ME LOL:gj:
-
remember when I said I talked to the breeder, The first time I said what is my male pastel? people have been telling me its a super or ghost, the first time around he didnt even respond to that email.LOL. so then I emailed him saying that IF he was just a het where can I find another het to pair with him and that I have never seen andy green ghosts or het green ghosts for sale and ask the same question regarding MY pastels genes this is what I got "He is a possible het. My line was from a wild caught green ghost. The babies I saved. The babies were bred to a pastel het green ghost. I purchased him from Joe Capone." so in my head I got a great deal on a ghost that Rick sold as a pastel het. . . het x het will produce ghosts so I dont know what he was thinking? if you look on my profile i have a pic from the website that I selected my baby from I knew he was HOT from the start lol.

Re: Another ghost question, I finally have a shed from him now what
I'm thinking this may be one of those cases that you'll just never know for sure until you breed to prove it out. It may take a few years if you can't find another for-sure compatible het...you'd have to breed for possible hets and then breed back to the sire. Of course if he IS ghost, then the babies will be 100% het, but you won't know that for sure until you breed back.
He's definitely HOT...and LOOKS like there is something special going on besides a typical pastel-het-ghost. But some recessive traits DO visually affect certain morphs in their het form. And if this is a new line relatively recent out of Africa...then you may be dealing with something that doesn't look or react like the typical known hypo lines.
-
thank you for your help, I contacted the breeder and he kind of changed his tune so to speak. he said that he doesnt know any more what he is but that he hopes he keeps his color and he knew he shouldve kept him. LOL that makes me happy. thanks again every one and JLC u are allways a great help. :taz:
-
I beleive it is a Pastel Hypo, and I also know that some green hypo's are compatible with orange hypo's. I know because we bred a green hypo to a het orange hypo and got 5 hypos, 3 orange, 2 green. So if you felt like proving it out, I would try an orange hypo if need be, or look for a green one(they are defiantely better looking as adults, the male at work is one of the most stunning bp's there). Again I'm pretty sure its a straight up hypo pastel, not het, but breed it to find out for sure. Regardless he's gorgeous, and a great pick! Congrats, and good luck. ~Caylan.s.~
-
thanks alot I really appreciate it. where do u work?
-
Clark Tucker and Capone do breed Green Hypos, so you can always shoot them an email to see if they have any available. I see there is also a breeder female Green Hypo and a Spider het Green Hypo on fauna still from Snakemanbonk. He's asking 1k for the female. They are out there you just have to hunt around.

if u could send me a link I WOULD LOVE THAT
