The Cove trailer...... a must see
Hopefully this thread will take the focus off Big Gunns and on the cause Big Gunns is fighting for.
I really hope this thread doesn't cause a problem with the tos. The movie The Cove and what's in this trailer was played on Animal Planet a couple months ago. I'm hoping that you guys can leave it to help spread the word of what I believe is a worthy cause.
If the 7:10 mark of this trailer does not "move" you, then clearly this cause is not for you. The end is worse, but the 7:10 mark left no question in my mind where I was going even though I had something else planned.
I will warn you though. If you love Dolphins like BG does, this is going to be really hard to watch.

45,000 people die IN THE UNITED STATES in car crashes every year.
Untold millions are starving across the world.
Malaria wrecks havoc on humans, other mammals, birds, and reptiles across the tropics.
Chytridiomycosis has been predicted to be capable of causing the extinction of amphibians worldwide (with the possible exception of the Japanese giant salamander)
A fire recently destroyed the home of some good friends.
I hope you don't find it surprising when it's hard to recruit people for a cause to save a handful of dolphins. There is so much death and pain in the world, we unfortunately have to pick our battles. I could say more, but I won't.
Oh, except that whale meat is delicious :P
-
Actually, I think the sounds starting at 14:50 were the worst.
You want to eat them? Go right ahead. If you think that's fine, then I encourage you to eat up. Eat pounds of it.
Self-correcting problem.
Are there more important issues to worry about in the world? Sure. Does that mean that the 'smaller' things don't matter at all? No.
-
Interesting post.. question though.. why do you always speak in third person?

Doesn't matter how big or small the issue is, fact is it matters greatly to someone.. and that should make it just as important. It's just not a handful of these beautiful animals getting slaughtered... some of the things people consider "little issues" matter the most too. Not just all the big things. We all have to do our part.
Not everyone is going to agree on what BG is doing, it might just be because you can't see past his ego or personality thinking he's just trying to get attention. But what he is doing is bringing this matter forward and trying to do what he can to help stop this. Give him a break. I appreciate what he's doing, you guys have a problem with it then whatever. You either like him, or you don't.

Get used to it, it's just how BG rolls. Some people have a problem with it, some don't *shrug*

I have no problem with him doing what he's doing in Japan. Although I do not respect the group he's chosen to associate with. I think joining a group of imbeciles isn't in your best interest regardless of their cause. But that's just part of it. Why is it that whenever BG does something he's got to shout it from the highest mountain. I'm glad he's found something to put his energy into, well kind of.
But you know there's human beings needing a lot more help than other mammals. Many of us on this forum contribute to many charities. At least I would hope so. But none of us go to BP.net and tell everybody how great a job we're doing.
Among others, I'm a contributor to a group that pays for operations that correct cleft lips and cleft palates for thousands of children across the entire globe. My wife and I have paid for dozens of these operations, but I don't yell out how great a guy I am. I also have contributed time and money to a really great group that helps disabled veterans. We build homes or retrofit their existing homes to allow them an easy tranformation from months/years of therapy into a house and home.
But did anyone know about this on BP.net? NO. Why? Because I do this for other reason than to make me look better on BP.net.
So, BG can roll however he wishes, but to shout how good a job he does for a couple of months, isn't what makes a man. For his fans, you will probably find fault for something I posted here. Maybe I spelled something wrong, maybe my sentence structure isn't correct, but that's okay too.
Mods and Admins have fallen under the BG charm, allowing him and his friends to practically do what ever they want, and like I told one of them. It's their forum and they can do what they want. They can't take away what many of us here have done both on the forum and off, but I guess that it doesn't matter.
If BG talked to your mother like he does to people here, would you be in love with him? You can't demand respect, you've got to earn it. Well at least in the real world, maybe not on BP.net.

I dont mind the 3rd person. just always somethign I've wondered.

i don't know why anyone is wasting time arguing everyone has a different opinion and feels towards a different cause thats how the world works if we all liked the same thing there wouldn't be chocolate and Vanilla but there is! because we are all DIFFERENT! no two people will ever agree on anything 100%

Neil has not stepped outside the boundaries of our Rules/TOS. Is there some hidden responsibility the staff has to make sure that YOU like everything that is posted in the open forums? No...I don't think so.
YOU are perfectly free and capable of putting Big Gunns on ignore. It's a valuable feature the site offers...for free! I highly recommend you use it...because for whatever reason, this BG character has you so twisted up that you're now skating on the verge of receiving a 50 point infraction for Disrespecting the Staff.

Well hopefully you have picked one of those causes instead of just pointing them out.
If BG could pick them all....he would...but BG has chosen this one among others.
If you're a young one, enjoy that whale meat now, because by the time your old there probably will be no whales left.

You will hear those sounds if you swim in the cove.
Glad to see you understand.

Don't worry about BG Country girl. BG is a big boy and can handle it. If BG can't handle this how can he possibly handle the bigger problems he has?
Thanks for the support though.:gj:

BP.net should take this post as a compliment....kinda. After all he did say that a post on here is "shouting from the highest mountain top".:D
BG is glad you do all you do Smitty, and maybe you should say what you do to bring awareness to it. It's clear what bothers you though. Clearly you don't want BG to get any "props" for what he's doing. The fact that he does really really bothers you for some reason. Big Gunns is going to need to find a name for this problem. BG hopes you work it out because obviously you're not one of the ones that only cares about themself.

BG has "wondered" why it bothers people so much sometimes. It takes a while to "get it". Some never do.

No they won't "100%". BG would settle for 1% with some of them though.:D

We all know JLC that no matter how hard people try, BG is impossible to ignore.:D To be perfectly honest, this is why BG decided to keep the persona in the things he's doing.....because it works. BG was gonna retire it.

At least what I do isn't illegal. What you do in Japan is in fact illegal.
My last comment on this subject.

Trust BG, if it was "illegal" BG would be in a Japanese prison right now.
BG has $1,000,000(not really) for you if it really is your "last comment on this subject". There's no way.:P:D

Big Gunns would never doing anything "illegal"....there's no need really anyway. After all, he is Big Gunns. He does whatever he wants.:D:D
Right now he wants to save Dolphins.:gj:

I am quite aware you are a big boy, and can handle yourself. But I just had to get my word in even if it doesn't matter that much.

Everyone's "word matters". The trick is to get people to care about your "word".
Now BG is off to the gym. Talk to you later peeps.:gj:

Very true.
Have fun, don't be like me and trip over a weight while working out today and wipe out.. breaking 2 toes :D:rolleyes:

The cove was a very upsetting movie. Its a shame humans are such a pathetic breed of creatures. I long for the day when theres a new species that hunts us to the brink of extinction then maybe we would change our views on things if the tables were turned.
-
I am troubled by any unnecessary waste of life, particularly when acts of cruelty are committed against sentient species.
To be fair, the dolphins are not being treated worse than humans treat one another, so at least humankind is consistent. To be even more fair, dolphins treat other species (and occasionally one another) in equally cruel fashions. Occasional cruelty seems to be part and parcel with sentience.
None of which makes this right, and I do hope an end can be put to it.

Re: The Cove trailer...... a must see
If you want to talk about "upsetting films," you should take a look at Earthlings. I believe it came out long before The Cove did and I found it much harder to watch. It really shows a side of many industries that most people don't get to see.
