If he rejects it, yes, but otherwise, a little blood and guts isn't going to hurt him. Just clean up the mess after he's done, disinfect and there should be no problems.

i'm worried about the rodent's health.. i got it from petco, which we all know is notoriously horrible with the products they sell... i don't want him to make my BP sick
-
ah fudge! it's gone! guys! it disappeared XD!!! haha that was the grossest thing i've ever seen from my own collection :taz:
-
If it was going to make him sick, it would do it with or without the guts hanging out. You should be fine. Just don't let it sit. Bowels rot and grow nasty bacteria VERY fast on the outside of the body. So if he hasnt started eating it by now, I would go ahead and remove it.

oh nevermind my last post then hahaha You're snake should be fine, dont worry about it :)
-
yeah lol he ate it b4 i could take it out XD... i wanted to get it b4 my snake ate it so i'm gona have to watch extra attention to his next big "dog log"

Honestly, that probably wasn't the rodents health so much as you using too warm of water to heat that rat up :P Or did you use a lamp or blowdryer? I bet if you were to let your rats air-thaw, there is a good chance you'd not see that again, at least not to that extent, which looked to be total disembowelment. Sorry, wanted to use that word :P

omg.. i totally forgot about that!! heating a rat with water that's too hot can cause it to burst! i haven't personally seen that, but i've heard of that! it happens mostly to pinkys.. that was probably it! i'm so relieved! horribly sight though i hope none of you guys go through that hahaha :D
it was like a cyst popping! ugh

I've seen it happen once or twice, and when I noticed the pattern, I immediately used cooler water, or if time permitted, a complete air thaw of the rat in a bag out on the balcony. Never had the problem since.
