Visual Difference betwwen Mojave and Phantom
I have seen a few pictures of some Phantoms that like close to a Mojave. What are some distinct visual differences between the two?

I've been wondering the same thing and for mystics as well especially if you are crossing them with mojaves. how do you distinguish your phantom/mystics from mojave clutchmates. I've seen some that look too close to tell...well I'm sure its much easier in person as I've only seen pics.

oh and by the way I'm not implying that phantoms and mystics are the same thing

I'm just not sure, either. Our mojave sure looks more like pictures of phantoms that I can find than it does a mojave. I sure like his coloration and pattern.

This is the only pic of him I have on here. I'll take some later this week and get them posted.

He just doesn't have the yellow that I see most mojaves have. Doesn't have a lot of blushing, either. Anyway, I'm very curious on the differences to look for between mojaves and phantoms. Are there any tell-tale, obvious signs, markers, etc?

Phantoms have less blushing than Mojave.
The coloring is also more brownish than the mojave

Thank you, Saskia! Anything else that I can use other than the blushing and the coloring? genetic markers? eye colors?

The tops of the Phantom eyes have a silver look to them.
My Phantom boy has a nice silver top half of his eye, and the Phantom Goblin we bred for this year has a very pronounced silver eye.
Same can be said for other crosses such as the Pastel Phantom and the Phantom Spider. I have not seen any other crosses in person to comment on those.

With the silver in the eyes, that may be helpful, but not sure.

It sure would be useful if somebody had examples of both morphs side by side. Closeups on the eyes would be cool, too.

    I will
Someone send me a pm in a few days and I will take a pic of a mystic, phantom, and a mojave next to each other. Go figure that they are all in full shed at the same time.

Heather talked about this just this week:

    http://heathersherpsblog.blogspot.co...-specials.html

(From what I've seen, mojaves are usually brighter and less-normal-looking in their coloring. And their gold spots are much more evenly filled with black-- they almost look like pale cinnamons.

Mystics/phantoms are brighter than normal with lots of blushing, but not compared to mojaves. They also usually do have busy/filled patterns, but again, you'd be much more likely to mistake a mystic/phantom or a normal. You never would mistake a mojave.)

Here is a pic of my Phantom male I purchased from Chad Brown at Tinley two weeks ago. I also included a pic of him along with one of my Mojaves for comparison.
From what I can tell the Phantom's just look like ugly Mojave's

    Hmm. That's odd.

Do most people's mojaves have black eyes?

Two of my mojos have silver-topped eyes. The third has black eyes.

It's still inconclusive to me. I'll have to take some more pics of my 'mojave' male tonight, when he's done with his current girlfriend....they've been going over 24 hours!

I sort of rate the BEL complex traits by how extreme they are from a normal.

On the scale of "how 'lesser' do they look", I give lessers/butters a 5/5, mojos a 3-4/5, phantoms a 2/5, and russo hets a 1/5

I've loved BELs since I first saw them. However, the super phantom is WAY more gorgeous than a BEL. drooooooollllllll............... BTW, how long do they lock up for? My mojo male has been locked up for over 30 hours now!

I don't think he is. Look at the pics I posted above of the Phantom and Mojave for comparison.

He doesn't have any of the hook pattern on him.
He is a very nice looking reduced Mojave though.

I'd still like to see all 3 snakes side by side.
