    Bean farm shipping price question
    Hey, I was wondering

I am ordering an ultratherm off bean farm

So the ultratherm heat mat is 35$.

    I click "Checkout"

And it gives two options for shipping. It says 29.00$. How is this possible if my item is already 35$

Surely it cannot possibly be 29$ for shipping!?!??!?! I know im in Canada and shipping is costly, but 30$?

    That cant be

Anybody that has ordered from bean farm wanna chime in here?

I dont wanna order this to find out its 50 some odd dollars.....

    Thanks

You should go with flex watt heat tape instead, it's way cheaper and is a great product.

Try and see if http://www.reptilebasics.com/ ship to Canada, they will also put it together for you.

I'm in the same boat...getting stuff shipped up here to Alaska seems to cost way too much.

You can e-mail them and they get back pretty fast, I e-mailed to ask if they shipped to Alaska and they do.

The flexwatt has the ordinary 2 pronged plug :gj:,it does need to be controled by a thermostat though

Yeah thats why I was asking :)

My thermostat is two pronged. Not to mention I already have one heat pad hooked up to it, so im gonna put an extension cord on it, and plug two to three heat "pads/tape" into it

I am going to be heating 2 - 4 leopard gecko enclosures so having them all the same temp is good :)

I use a power surge extension to plug my flexwatt into then plug the power surge extention into my thermostat. This way i have double protection from any excess electric mishaps :gj:

Mike just order from Greg West www.cornelsworld.com. He charges $3.50 a foot for 4" flexwatt. He also sells Herpstats, PVC/Malemine racks and cages. Very reasonable prices and I get all of my heating needs from him. He is located in Alberta.
    Good luck. :)

That's the cheapest you'll get in Canada unless you find someone local. The CRBE will have flexwatt available as well, it'll save on your shipping costs.

It's much cheaper if you just wire the flexwatt yourself.. Very easy to do. :)

Cobra Heat Mats by T-Rex are the same thing as Ultratherm Heat Pads.

They are sold at various stores in Canada - or by on-line retailers in Canada.

As for ultratherms versus flex-watt - I'll pay the extra cash and get the therms everytime......................

Yeah, I am leaning towards the ultratherm. Heat tape is great but I can promise you all with 100% certainty that I not be able to wire it properly and all that, ill end up causing a fire

    I can guarantee it lol

I think ultratherm is the best bet for me

Also thanks for the info about the cobra heat mats, I think the big als sells them near me

    Thanks
