Re: Post your Black Pastel picts
Dave says thank you for starting the thread... he wanted his picture on the Cinnamon thread, since he kinda looks like them, but I told him to wait until there was one for Black Pastels. :D Here's Dave!

Here's the girl that we're hoping to make some black platinums with next year, although the picture is a little old. I really need to get some updated pictures of some of our girls.

Is there anything that really differenciate Black pastels and Cinny's ? Or are the Black Pastel a darker version of the Cinny morph? Sometimes I really can't tell. And then throw a Blackback cinny in there and it's even more confusing...
Regardless I love Cinnys and Black pastels equally!

I don't really get either, to be honest! I posted a thread asking if he was a cinny or bp when I got him, so you should read through the answers: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=110236
According to Raul of West Coast Jungle: "One difference between a cinny and a black pastel are the sqiggly markes in the pattern. Meaning the cinny just has the round dots(like a mojave) in the pattern and the Blacks have this sqiuggly marks surrounding the pattern. Yours looks alot like a cinny but he has some squiggly marks associated with the blacks. Then again the head looks more cinny but belly looks more like a black."
I just know his lineage because of who produced him (Robert Seib), and who later sold him to me (Skiploder/Craig)... they're both very trustworthy sources, so if they say he's a black pastel that's what he is! There is a fine line between the two morphs, though, and I'd be interested to see a cross-breeding project. Has anyone does that, if so did they produce a super together?
P.S. Dave is from the Ian G line, which does seem to produce lighter cinny-like black pastels... I personally think they're beautiful. :)

Yep, breed them together and you'll get an all black snake. They're commonly accepted as being two sides of the same morph, similar to the butter/lesser gene.

I personnally love the squiggles and the connecting floating side patterns, and just purchased a female cinny that corresponds exactly to what I was looking for. (forget about me waiting for October like I said in the Cinny thread:rolleyes:)
She is being sold as a cinny, but based on the description of a black pastel, then she might be a black pastel because she has squiggles. As far as I am concerned, she can be a black pastel cinnamon, I'm all happy with that.
Here's her picture, you tell me! Getting her on Tuesday

Here's a couple of pics of a male we produced this year from a Black Pastel x Dinker pairing. Please forgive the poor quality of the images. We just got a new camera and I haven't figured it out yet. Give me a year or two.

Hi,
Is it just me or does the edge of the belly on that one really resemble a yellowbelly?

To me Black Pastels and Cinnamons look so different from each other. I think one of the problems is that some people get confused and label them wrong. I have seen Cinnamons listed as Black Pastels for sale online more so than Black Pastels listed as Cinnamons.
