    7 Egg Clutch
    And they're all infertile!

Has anyone ever experienced this? If you didn't candle them, you'd think that they were perfectly healthy eggs. Not a slug amongst them.

But they glow yellow with not a vein to be seen. :(

This was my only mojave clutch this year. :(

They're in the incubator until they rot - but they're still holding their shape and color.

I just had a Blood Python clutch get laid a month ago.....

And have been wiping condensation off the insides of the tubs once a week or so.

I found an egg yesterday that had a little of the white fuzzy mold on it....

Candled it and it was a gone-er, its held its shape for that long, though is a bit deflated now.

But after laying and this whole time, it looked like all the others.

Sorry to hear this, especially since yours seem bad right from the get go

That's terrible. I'm waiting on my first clutch. Should drop soon. If that kind of thing is going to happen, it will happen to me. Hopefully yours turn out. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you have better luck with any other clutches.

Last season we had a clutch of 4 slugs and 3 eggs. Turned out 2 of the eggs were infertile. Only got one viable egg. This year a different girl laid the same ratio of slugs to eggs and one egg died a few days ago. The embryo was starting to develop. Two good eggs from that clutch. So far I've had crappy luck all around.

    Robin,

Its pretty unusual from my experience to have an entire clutch of infertile eggs that look fine... I've had it happen though!

Sorry to hear the tough news. :(

That sucks. Has the male that you used sired a good clutch for you before or was this his first year breeding?

I had my big girl lay me 12 of them this year.(Slugs) She had already laid me two clutches from the years before that where fine. They all looked good too. The only thing I can think of is I had a Thermostat fail It was out for a few days. This was before she laid them.

I would still incubate them and check for veins tomorrow. You never know. In my experiences, they're either fertile, or slugs.; no in-between.

John, he sired a good clutch for me last year and produced two beautiful mojaves. I bred him to my black back female hoping to produce some really pretty mojo's this year.

I'm incubating them, I put them in the incubator on Sunday, candled them again yesterday - still no good - but like I said - I'm hoping that by some miracle veins start to form. Maybe some pixie dust will help - know where I can find some?

:( Awww....Robin, i'm sorry....that's not something we've experienced here but I've heard that it happens from time to time. Maybe this is karma's way of giving you a different clutch of absolutely perfect snakies next time

I had clutch of 7 eggs laid on 5/27 all infertile......eggs looked a little small but viable, but no veins. I went ahead and incubated them anyway. They started to smell just a little by 3rd week so I trashed them...... BUMMED ME OUT......I don't know what it is this year with all these 7 egg clutches slugging out, but counting yours and mine seems like there have been a dozen of em, and a few have been het pied x to het pied pairings........I don't name any of my snakes but this girl now has one.....Sluggo......

Robin, that sucks! I've heard from some big breeders that if you dance naked in your snake room when there's a full moon the ball python gods should smile down on you! Can't hurt to try . . . . . .

So sorry Robin, my theory is if it aint a slug put it in the bator. I'd give'em a chance untill its obviously gone. Do they all look normal size?

Yes Raul - they look like any other fertile egg, except no veins. Same sized eggs as my other clutches.

I don't even bother candling...why stress, when I'm going to incubate them anyhow? lol

If they don't start to sink by day 3, betcha they're good, no matter what they candle like. Don't give up hope.
