    Help Me Identify My Morph!
Hey guys, I got this ball from a friend, he's almost a year old. I was told he was a morph, but I can't remember the type... help please?

Take a pic under a daylight bulb. In that light you cant see the color and it looks like a normal.

If that is a morph the only thing it resembles is a desert IMO. Take better pics and a belly shot.

Thanks for the help so far, sorry about the picture trouble...

here are a few more, and yes, the light in the room is bad. It makes the color look very dull, I took some with a flash.

I will post some under a daylight bulb shortly

looks like it a normal but I very nice reduce pattern. if it a morph it het for the morph (and that may get hard to prove out best ask your friend again and write it down. Just tell him in the excitement you forgot the morph he claimed it was.

Re: Help Me Identify My Morph!
Sorry to tell you, but in my opinion its not a morph. The only thing it could possibly be would be a desert or an enchi, but with most people with those kind of morphs know exactly what they have, not saying you dont know what your doing. Im thinking its just a sweet looking normal. I would deffinetly say its worth breeding.

I am almost 100% sure that your snake is a Pastel... a very beautiful one at that ;) Here is a photo of a juvenile Pastel Ball Python:

Re: Help Me Identify My Morph!
Thanks for all the help guys. Like one of the earlier posts mentioned, in the excitement, I forgot the type. I didn't know too much about ball pythons then, and am still learning. I will get into contact with the seller and ask him once more.

In the mean time, I will try to post a few more pictures under appropriate lighting, because I don't think these ones are 100% accurate. The contrast in color from the sides to the top isn't being done justice. Either way, I think he looks great, but it would be a shame if I was misinformed...

Re: Help Me Identify My Morph!
No its not a pastel. It does have a nice clear belly. It could just be a very clean normal. Did you pay anything for it? Like I said before the only morph it looks like IMO is a desert but they are not cheap and if your friend knew what it was I dont think it would be just given away. If you cant get a definate answer from your friend then you cant say its a morph until you breed it and prove it. Breed it to an Enchi and you will know for certain if its a desert. The desert/enchi combo is umistakable. Or to a yellow belly. The desert YB has markings that look like puzzle pieces.

Now I know nothing about morphs really. I am just trying to ID snake species in general at this point.

But I wanted chime in. I see a lot of people saying this is not a morph. But it seems to be very "yellow" to me. My normal (or normal as far as I know) is not nearly that bright.

Very nice snake indeed and keep investigating what morph it is.

Normals in there own right are so varyingly beautiful but they do vary. In my opinion this one is a very nice and light normal.

    yup, looks normal to me.

it's not a pastel or an enchi.
i don't think it's a desert bc theres no flame looking blushing on it's belly/side, and theres no color difference on it's side.

niiiiice nice nice dinker normal. i would have paid for it. :gj:

Re: Help Me Identify My Morph!
I'm going to rule out pastel as well. It does have a bit of an enchi look to it, but I don't think that's it either. It looks normal, but it is a shockingly bright and clean normal. It would probably sell as a "fancy" from an African importer.

.... I did see what looked like het pied markers on the underside, tho. Could you take another pic of the belly?

It does have h. pied markers, so I suppose its possible the OP was told it was het for a morph, which could be pied. But then again, a lot of snakes have markers that aren't het.

Unless proven otherwise I'd just call it a normal. It could be het for something, but phenotypically just a normal.

    No. It's not.

It's a good dinker for vanilla or fire possibilities though.
The clearness of the belly is making me think that there could be something there.

Good god those are huge pictures!!! He looks like a normal to me. He could be a het, or maybe your friend called him a reduced pattern? If so that just means that his pattern is less busy, not that he's necessarily genetic for it.

You might want to ask your friend, because the pictures show a normal with a clear belly, none of us could definitively tell you what he is. If it is a normal it's a really nice looking snake! :gj:

Looks normal but a very nice example. Really nice pattern and an awesome belly. Definately a keeper what ever it is. Het pied markers do also appear with normals. Not a definate.

    Bust of luck though.
