Killerbee x Normal 12 egg clutch
This is my second clutch of the season, and this girl's first clutch with me. She was paired with the killerbee male and laid 12 good eggs with 0 slugs. I'm hoping for some nice bees and pastels out of this one!

Thanks guys :) Honestly, I didn't weight her pre-lay vs post-lay. That may be something I look to do in the future, but this year I chose to just leave her be rather than disturb her. I figure 0 slugs is a good indicator that I did things right.

Prelay was somewhere in the neighborhood of 3500 grams, when I weighed her way back in the fall. She's named "Bertha" for a reason :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!...That has to be one of my top 5 favorite morphs. I plan on using the Spider/pastel gene in my first few pairings, one day making it to your level and to producing Killerbees.

Congrats again. Hopefully you get more bees.

It's easy to make it to that level, you just have to sell a kidney! :) -Jon

Thanks. This girl took last year off on me, so I think that definitely helped in this year's clutch size. -Jon

HAHAHA, I was thinking I'd have to sell Something I really needed..LOL..

How long (years) does it usually take to get that far to making killbees?..I'm looking to do a Spider x Pastel and/or Pastel x Pastel for my first breeding(s)..Then I can just put the Spider wit the Super and make KillerBees...

This is why I Love Ball Python Genetics...So many different combos..LOL...

    Congrats again.

I went straight to purchasing the killerbee from Marc Bailey. It's an issue of time vs money, if you have one but not the other you can still get where you want to go. If I had started with pastel x spider hatchlings, it would have taken years (and some luck) to hit a killerbee.

And I felt that bumblebees will sell well, so I wanted a bunch on the shelf :)

A spider x super-pastel will give 50% bees and 50% pastels but no killers, unfortunately. A bumblebee x pastel will give 1 in 8 killers, statistically speaking.

That REALLY sucks! I was really rooting for this guy, and was a little worried because he isn't as big as I would have liked, but he pulled through.

I would have had a bum year if this one had turned out to be gay....

They were just asking for an update. I don't know why everyone has their panties in a bunch.

A PM would probably be better next time, but still. I don't see how getting updates is thread resurrection. How else are we supposed to know?

Lol, I'll see if I can get an update for you guys. He finished up his PhD and moved to VA late last year for a job. He is busy busy busy. I can hardly get a message back on FB in a week ;)

I do know that he absolutely killed the odds with his killerbee last year. I think at one point he had 9 bees from normal girls, but I'll have to check and make sure. I went over to his place before he moved to see all his babies, he opened a tub and all I see is a huge pile of fresh bee babies!

    Hey Yall,

I see we had a bit of thread necromancy going on with this one ;) Let's dig up the records...

Hatched out 3.2 pastels and 3.4 bees. I held back one of the bee females, all the rest sold pretty quickly. My pic taking setup is such a pain, I'll try to get pics of the bee girl up on my website at some point.

This year Bertha is paired with a very nice firefly male from John at JDConstriction. I'm hoping for some nice fireflies.

Here's old pics of the firefly who is breeding her this year:

    www.precisionpythons.com/firefly.php

Steph-Lol. The older I get the fewer hours there are in a day! Thanks for making me aware of the questions.

    Jon
