Dwarf Burmese
Hey guys, Ive always wanted a burm but to be honest im not comfortable with that large of a snake nor could i properly house it. Im considering a dwarf burmese now. Does anyone know any breeders that are working with dwarf burms?
Thanks, Connor

Re: Dwarf Burmese
Bob Clark is breeding them in the pure form, not het for anything. He has a couple females ready to lay if I'm correct when I last talked to him. I got my female from him and couldn't be happier, but understand they aren't normally like the puppy-dog mainlands. Some can be full on pistols and a lot more flighty. You might want to look into the Half Dwarfs. They grow to be around 7' female and 5-6' male. I have a pair and love them. They will be breeding next year, but if you want one this season, PM me and I'll point you in the right direction.

Re: Dwarf Burmese
I could be wrong but I have heard that the dwarf burmese never lose their wild attitude and are never really handlable. If anyone here has them Id like to hear about them too. Im partial to dwarf retics myself.

Re: Dwarf Burmese
I never heard of a dwarf Burmese, only dwarf Retics.

There is someone who has one locally here in my town. If you want it, I would be willing to pick it up for you and ship it if you just send me the funds. I can even check it out for you to make sure it is healthy first if you like. I myself am a proud owner of an albino burm (not a dwarf though) and I can tell you, you will have to get used to their moodiness, but really, they have the most personality of all the snakes I have ever owned.
PM me or email me at jeremiahtyson@aol.com if you are interested.

That's BS. No albino dwarf burm has yet to be produced. Plus, normal dwarf burms run about a grand themselves. An albino is going to run probably $5K is one is ever produced.
It's probably just a severely underfed burm.

I have no clue. I don't know this person and haven't seen the snake. Nor do I know anything about dwarfs. I just know what I read on the ad!

Re: Dwarf Burmese
There have been no albino dwarf burms produced or any other morph in the dwarf burms. The dwarf and the half dwarf burms do have different temperments than a full size burm. They are very high strung, tend to be hissy and nervous but aren't usually biters. I have a pair of green het granite half dwarfs and they are only 4 feet long each and are two and a half years old. I do love them but they are both flighty as can be.

I have a Dwarf Burm from Bob Clark. She is a little hissy in the beginning but actually surprising calm in my hand *knock on wood* :please::please::please: I only know of one other handleable Dwarf Burm from a reliable source. Many are pistols, but I still love them. The Half Dwarfs are possibly what you're looking for. I love mine because they are good sized and have a good temperament too. They are more active than my normal burms, but I like that because it keeps me on my toes.
Here is a pic of my mid-09 Dwarf Burm (in hand not biting):

Here are a couple pics of my 2007 Half Dwarfs:

Re: Dwarf Burmese
People said that retics were wild savages too for many years, but as the generations passed and people were breeding them in captivity the animals started calming down and now most retics are very handleable.

Re: Dwarf Burmese
Thanks for all the replys guys. I contacted Bob Clark and he does have some females that should lay this month. Im hoping to either get a CBB pure dwarf from him or maybe a half dwarf. Bob Clark said that the CBB dwarfs should be just like any CBB burm. Ill have to make a final decision but i deffinetly want a dwarf/halfdwarf burm.

Re: Dwarf Burmese
I'm gonna be trying a late pairing of my Half Dwarfs het Albino/Granite...However, if you do decide you want to get a Half Dwarf PM me and I can give you the contact for a reputable breeder who has a couple clutches ready to pip in a couple weeks...They should be having Half Dwarf Albinos, Granites, slight chance of a Albino Granites and some Half Dwarf Hypo's...
