first time eggs!!!!! (13)

ok everyone, i havent ever post on here before but now its time.............i got 13 yea 13 im so excited.....now let me tell a story...lol

i got "petey" when i was 12 years old, and now im 26, as a hatchling for 20 bux at a local pet store, i took care of it thoughout the years. my buddy dave got her for a while when i had to go work outta town and then soon after my dad had got her while i ran around like an idiot...lol. well i get her back finally from my dad, and i also run into a free ball on craigslist, (at this time i had a home no more running around) and i name him/her nightmare. well i then talk with my buddy dave and decide to have this nightmare snake sexed....male...oh ok i go on....well then i do some moving and stuff like that and come around to finally at like 13 years old (petey) i have him/her sexed...... female...???... really i alway thought a male for him well her now....anyway i get a call from my buddy saying his snakes were locking and i was like oh yeah cool let me try mine........a long time later boom i got 13 eggs.........:banana:


well thanks for looking at my story both snake were normals so there sould im not going to post alot about these i was just really excited and wanted to let yall in..............wish me luck...yall have a good one and happy breeding......

ok i will post pics up soon as i canshe just laid today and shes a lil pissed i got her doing the incubation so i got her all put up right now maybe in a few days ill get some pics

btw thats her in my photo there avitar or whatever a year before i breed her

I would personally incubate the eggs yourself that way you can get the female feeding again quicker than normal, otherwise if she is self incubating then she won't feed through out and you have the chance of loosing all the eggs.

yea i got an incubator on the side all set up ready to go if i see problems....this was a normal to normal breeding and my first go round, i love this snake to death and just wanted to give her a real life mother feel...and ive worked my butt off the get there and so far from 2 years of research on maternal incubation i think i got it down but like i said i got a incubator right here just in case it all goes wacko thanks for the in put yall are great

yeah i know ive always loved ball pythons....dont care for snakes in general...lol but ive never breed and all and now like over night i got morphs a rack and eggs i love it:gj:

yeah i came prepared for all the bashing lol not really... i just have to say for anyone reading this please research and then look and then research again and then do what is right for your snake and everything will be fine....thats exsperience talking not just research:gj:

no need for bashing, and your so correct, being ready WAYYY ahead of time makes things go smoothly for both you and your snake.

ok need a lil help....urine smell in nest box:O

Any signs of mold? Temp and humidity in box?

Is mom still doing the incubation?

humidity 75 temp air is 84.4 no mold:confused::confused:

yes mom is on it

Get humidity to 88%+ and temp it 86-89F the best you can

ok around the eggs is that high and i the humidity is on its way up, should i go ahead and put the incubator to use? all the eggs look great but i dont like that smell

If mom is incubating did you ever bother to think she may have passed urates near the eggs?

well yea of course but shes passed urine for the passed 12-13 years also and ive never smelled it before....i dont let my snakes get nasty. and this is my first time breeding and ....well there you have it:D

The raised temps and humidity are to blame for the smell. If the eggs are looking good I would bet it is just a large dose of her urates. :gj:

you know what......im not givin mom her dues, i bet she did urine on them i read about that before but forgot, thanks yall ill calm back down:gj:

ok i moved the eggs to a incubator..........i just couldnt take the temps no more and the smell so i took them out from their momma and put all 13 eggs in a big box and in my incubator....thank god for thinking ahead.....sorry for anyone that was going for the maternal incubation but i just dont wanna losse my first clutch......thanks for everybodys help on this subject.....and dont let this discourage you in doin maternal just setup better than i did lol:gj:

Don't feel discouraged and don't feel like you're disappointing anyone! You're doing what you feel is best for your eggs. Not a thing wrong with that. ;)

Do what ever it takes to have healthy and alert babies hatch. No matter how you do it is up to you but do what works for you and eggs.

Though Momma will love that you took them away so she can begin to eat.

ok sorry guys ive been busy which has been good because it made this time go by fast. the eggs are at day 53 not and look just like they do in this pic but a little more round not so dented. but i have a question, should i be able to see a snake when i candle by now?[IMG]http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...s/SDC10055.jpg[/IMG]

ok i cut all but 5 eggs (outta 13) because they are still a little tight feeling so maybe tomarrow, anyway, all the ones i cut were moving and such and look really great, just a bunch of normals but they look really light and beautiful, ill post pics as soon as they come all the way out, thanks everyone for the support
