    Thank you...
To every one who has helped fight global warming! We have record snow fall across the country! 9" here in Rio Vista Texas WOW I have never seen this much snow here in Texas (obviously due to the fact its a record)

So thanks to every one who bought a prius and carbon credits. Heck it even gave Clinton a heart attack!

Plus all the snow is BEAUTIFUL. We got a old hood and ran a tow strap to the back of my truck and drove around the property a few rounds until we were thoroughly covered in wet snow and mud from head to toe!

    lol. You're welcome.

"Global Warming" was predicted to cause extremes at both ends anyhow. We have many more heavy snowfalls and class 3-5 hurricanes to look forward to in the near and distant future.

So when the globe warms up we get colder weather?

The way I understand it is the glaciers melt, that cold water enters into the big streams in the oceans, making the warm ones colder, and we get colder weather due to that. But I could be totally wrong

That doesn't make much sense. I am no educated scientist or anything but I would think that the streams might be colder but I wouldn't think that is would effect air temp and it wouldn't even register in a large body of water.

That's how it was explained to me, who knows? It seems like they change the explanation all the time. But the temperatures of those currents do greatly affect our weather systems, especially on the coast, so maybe more hurricanes or something? That's the best I've got, hahaha ;) To google!

If the snow on the east coast disporves global warming, does the lack of snow in Vancouver disprove the proof that disproved global warming?

I didn't really mean for this to be a global warming thread (bad joke gone worse?) I don't believe that global warming is true, I just find it especially funny that were getting record snow fall across the country in the midst of all this green malarkey.

The original point to this thread, THIS SNOW IS AWESOME. I love the snow it is so pretty and clean and refreshing and pure and relaxing. We shut down completely today. That means 0 phone calls (I am a dispatcher so my phone rings day and night and I MUST answer it) no work no head ache no trucks stuck no people complaining no one to deal with but me and my family. It is a blissful thing that I don't get often, haven't gotten in over two years. <sorry about the crummy sentence structure.

I may be mistaken but they are supposed to be getting some nice snowfall this weekend and into next week.

What industry do you dispatch in?

I recently went to a concrete convention and my BF and I sat down at a demonstration for this cool dispatching aid. He boasted how dispatchers are SO important and SO stressed, and that this program would takes loads of stress off them. It was a cool demonstration, but for someone who's not a dispatcher... It was incredibly boring. Lol. But we got a free pocket knife at the end with the companies logo on it! Yay for free knives!

My family, wife and I own a trucking company in the Barnette Shale in North Central Texas. We haul drilling mud. What was the program I am interested in anything that will make my life a little easier.

It's called "Command Alcon". From what I heard about it, and what you described, it sounds like it would be useful.

Local weather doesn't equal global climate. Just because certain areas have had record lows doesn't mean the global temperature is lowering. In the same way, just because certain areas have record highs (like Washington and Alaska) doesn't necessarily mean the global temperature is rising.

Here in Baltimore we beat a record, 72.3 inches so far and it was a pain to try and dig out of. Still have ridiculous roads and haven't left my house since last Friday. Probably won't be leaving in the next couple days either.

Mike - Global Warming is so yesterday! They now call it Climate Change, so that they won't be wrong any longer, after all the climate is always changing!

No matter that it's cyclical and it's simply repeating a pattern we saw in the 70's before there was Global Warming.

Guess no one in the "Climate Change" or "Global Warming" camp really wants anyone to know that the ice caps are starting to rebuild again in the southern hemisphere. Oh wait - that was supposed to happen, right?

"Global warming", as I understand it, is the name of a complex theory...not a forecast.

And it is a complex theory...probably written out over one or two or maybe even a dozen pages. It's amazing how all that complex theory can be overlooked because people think they know enough to disprove the entire theory because they can 'debunk' the first two words....the title.

"Global warming" brings wet weather because warm air is capable of carrying more moisture. But I'd like put out a little disclaimer here. I've never done testing on the moisture carrying capabilities of air, but I'm going off of what I've been told. Just like I'm sure nobody on here has gone down to the Southern Glaciers to verify that they are "re-growing".

Theory of Plate Tectonics? BLAH! Plates are flat and the earth is round! :rolleye2:

I think people take the 'global warning' part of things too seriously. We are polluting our earth and consuming our resources. That's going to have concequences. Bad, unforeseeable concequences.
I try and be green, but if someone convinces me tomorrow that global warming is a myth, that's not going to stop me from being green. It's going to hurt us one way or another.

I would agree that we need to be good stewards of our environment, but global warming is complete BS the scientist that spearheaded all of it was proven to be biased and unreliable by real scientists.

Back to being good stewards. I think that putting chemicals into the air that will cause respiratory problems and acid rain are a bad idea. We should avoid unnecessary pollution, like pouring raw waste into streams or spreading pesticides that are know to cause birth defects and other life threatening side effects.

Our climate is cyclical, there are warmer periods and cooler periods (ice age any one?) If I were to make a study and only show you 1% of what I found and said that the whole world had to change because of it I would be laughed at, at best. So why when some one says hey we have only really been polluting (at our current rate) for 70 years but have DESTROYED every eco system beyond repair when this world has (according to these same scientists) been around for BILLIONS of years, they are taken seriously and cost every one an incalculable amount of time energy and money.

    Mike

P.S. Mod/Admin If this is going to be a global warming thread maybe it should be in QT?????

Those being the "real" scientists that Exxon Mobil has been paying for since 1998?

I have my own questions and doubts, but I think it's unreasonable to dismiss large amounts of supporting research out of hand as many people do.

The guys main source of information was a magazine and a high school kids senior paper. His work has been proven to be unreliable by real scientist, nothing to do with Exxon.

I am not saying that the world may not be getting warmer but it is not man caused.

This is sort of (by "sort of" I mean "exactly") what I'm talking about. You dismiss climate experts and solid research because of an individual?

If we used that logic I would be forced to conclude that the entire Republican party is interested in having homosexual encounters in airport restrooms, the PGA is comprised entirely of adulterers, and everyone who can make doilies is guilty of insider trading. Come on.
