Sorry about the dirty tub! Just for size reference, the cinnamon male in the pic is about 1000 grams (he's a stud, locks with anything and everything :D)

Ok, so this girl isn't a ball...but she is big! I'm really hoping she'll go :please: The male in this pic is also pretty darn big, 1974 gms at last measurement and 13 years old, he was my first snake!

Here's mine; Awesome pics. I always wondered what a ball breeding a different species would look like. Ive seen the crosses but not the locks, very cool. Personally I wouldnt do it, but it is definitely an interesting, extreme aspect of the hobby. My personal favorite is the burmball, that pattern is incredible. Good luck in your pairings.

Screw the ban!..There are a lot of people on these forums that just don't like hybrids. I'm predicting a few pages of non-sense here:oops:. Congrats on those locks BTW! I'm sure those Super Balls will look nice though.

It's not like he's hybridizing a cobra and a giant constrictor like that dumb "monsterquest" show suggested. I don't understand how that second picture is adding so much more fuel to the 'ban' fire than....say...the first picture.

I don't see anything wrong with hybrids...as long as their braking system is working correctly! *kicks toyota while they're down!*

A word of warning.. while many people don't like or even entertain the idea of hybrids there are some out there who see nothing wrong with them.

They are already trying to ban the BIG snakes. When the general media catches on that people are doing unnatural crosses between Balls, Burmese, and Bloods and other stuff, what do you think the obvious result will be?

IMHO that picture needs to be taken down. If not, expect to see it in some future news broadcast where the uneducated news guy shows why ball pythons need to be banned as well.

If the news is going to make something look bad they will do it with whatever they can. At least he is sharing his pics with fellow herpers. Just search hybrid pythons on google, actually I have done it for you, they are not that hard to find...http://www.google.com/search?q=Hybri...x=&startPage=1 These news people are not going to sit around trying to find his pics on our forum, they are not that crafty(or maybe they are). Brian at BHB shows off his hybrids a few different times in his snakebytez videos. There's the carpet/chondro and he even shows off his blood ball. Is this detrimental to the herp community?

The entire purpose of the snakebytez videos, I believe he states, is to reach out to everyday people and show them what goes on with snake breeders and keepers. I don't think Brian would do something that causes harm to the herp community.

I agree that the bloodballs are going to be awesome. I'm not even going to comment on the "debate" part of this because I don't feel that such a debate on THESE two particular breeds/species is even necessary. Except to say that it is all a matter of one person's opinion over another. You don't have to like it because it isn't your project, but no one has a right to bash anyone for doing something a little different unless it poses a clear and profound detriment to our hobby or the animals which I don't see here.

That being said, good luck on the clutches! Cant wait to see how it turns out!

Wow, okay, so I'm naive...but I confess, the last thread I read on here about hybrids was back in 2007, and it didn't seem that bad then :rolleyes:

I realize that hybrids may not be everyone's cup of tea- I happen to think that superballs are very cool snakes, and as long as I deal with them responsibly, I have a right to produce them, just as you have a right to produce the snakes you like. As for the comment that I might as well "hand the people trying to ban this hobby a machine gun and an unlimited supply of ammo" I doubt I'm going to do that with one picture on a reptile forum, when many far bigger and more influential breeders have already produced these snakes and posted LOTS more pictures and even video of them long ago. Check here or watch the couple of Snakebytes episodes featuring hybrids, although I'm not going to go dig for them right now.

Lol, I think he locked with her out of sheer desperation...like I said, he was my first snake, I've had him for 12 years or so, and he's a normal male so I've NEVER bred him (by the time I got some big girls, I had more exciting males for them). He would probably have locked with a rolled-up pair of socks at this point :D

Sweet lock ups and those are some big boys you have! I don't really know what the uproar is about this pairing in particular :confused: I'm not even sure I understand the debate about hybrids in general. If you don't like them, don't get one. That seems to make sense to me. I don't want a dangerous snake so I don't own a cobra or a retic (dangerous for small children, idiots, and pets), simple as that.

Balls aren't dangerous, they aren't going to make another snake anymore dangerous than it already is so I don't really see the connection between banning balls because of hybrids. Dogs (shepards and huskies specifically) haven't been banned because of wolf hybrids, and somehow wolf hybrids haven't been banned yet either. At least not across the entire US. There are still people breeding them in my hometown.

You want unnatural hybrid... Some people came into work the other day with a shih tzu x chocolate lab. Think about that. Shih Tzu. Chocolate Lab. Couldn't make that pairing up.

I really don't understand why hybrids are so controversial... Bloods aren't banned, and balls aren't banned, so why would hybridization between the two put either one in danger of being banned? I'm not even sure if that's the real issue behind all the fuss. And the argument that hybrids are unhealthy and therefore shouldn't be brought into existence strikes me as a bit odd, since not many people seem to be against breeding caramel albinos, super black pastels or spiders, even though they all have a tendency to be badly deformed or have crippling neurological problems. I think superballs and wall pythons look really cool. Good luck with the clutch! :-)

If people can interbreed, say for example, different races, why not snakes?

It's not really the same thing. Different races of people are more like different morphs of ball pythons, while bloods and balls are kind of like lions and tigers, or a human and a bonobo monkey. I agree with what you're saying though. I see no harm in a bloodxball cross either :P
