    Blizzard in Baltimore
No, that's not a song I wrote, but a real deal blizzard. We've already gotten 6-7 inches (when they forecasted 1-3 inches by this time) and now the winds have picked up and the Weather Gods now have a Blizzard Warning in place for the area. I'd say the winds are sustained at about 25 mph and gusting to around 35. It's a heavy snow too, it's sticking to the side of everything. I've got a good sized front porch and the snow is building onto the porch. When I wake tomorrow, I probably won't be able to get out of my front door. I'm 48 and I've never seen anything like this. I'm sure there are folks on the forum that are saying, "That's just a little bit of snow", but when they forecast 20-30+ inches around these parts, it's a really big deal.

My only wish is that we don't lose our electric. I got the generator out this afternoon and could not get it to start. Just my luck, right?

    Wish me luck!

Got to love all this snow. You guys are going to get more than we are. We got about 2 inches today and we are expecting another 2-5 inches tomorrow. Not a lot but we just got about 10-12 inches last weekend. I'm pretty sure this is the most snow the east coast has seen in a long time. I haven't seen snow like this since I was in elementary school.

Stay safe! Don't drive in this storm. They are put my husband up in a hotel last weekend for that storm. He was there from Friday night until Monday morning. They are putting them in a hotel again tonight. :rolleye2: Gotta love this weather.

We are getting hit here in Jersey now too. I am not personally a big fan of snow to begin with and I really am not excited about the amount predicated

No driving for the Smtih family until the roads are clear. We've got all of the groceries we need, all the cars and trucks have a full tank of gas (in the event we need the cars to provide warmth in the event of a major power outage).

So at this point, it's a wait and see situation.

I don't know how you guys deal with that stuff.. I love snow, meaning I love to drive up to the mountains and see it and then drive back home..I don't think I could live in it all the time. I am from central cali, I'm not real big on the EXTREME weather. I was in baltimore the day after christmas and the weather wasn't that bad, we went on our cruise and came back the next week and it was 16 degrees. That probably doesn't sound that bad for you guys but believe me I thought I was going to die...lol. Good luck, hope the weather clears up for you

I have no words. :tears: My cable is out (no reception because of the snow covering the dish), it's WHITE outside, I can barely see the telephone poles.

Thank god, I had the foresight to stop at the library and liquor store! Now if only the heat doesn't go out.:please::rofl:

Hope all of you stay safe, but I do have to say, I'm a bit jealous. I really hoped we'd get some this round. We're overdue for a really good snow.

It depends on where you measure it. The slush on the road has about 2 inches, the bare asphalt has about an inch. We too are expecting about the same. I'm done with the snow. I may take a week off and visit my son in Daytona Beach, after all, I'm paying the rent on the house he's living in.

    Stay dry!

30 inches here so far (Federal Goverment offices are closed) and more coming down as I post....

I had to climb out the window so I could dig the snow off the porch to get out the door (had to do this for both doors)...

I would post pics, but resizing is slow and a pain, so I don't do it often only when I have a lot of time to waste.:(

Sounds like you're really getting snowed in down there literally. I bet you's can't wait till it all melts!

AND there's more snow coming down now (at least I have my 4-wheeler back) that I haven't shoveled yet...sigh.

It can't melt fast enough for me.:taz:

Oh wow thanks for sharing those pics! I love it when it snows like that as long as no power is lost and I don't have to be out shoveling it. :D

Our luck will be the weather will change and next week, we'll have 70 degree days and all of this snow/ice will melt in a 24 hour period causing massive flooding. :gj:

    Wanna bet?

The wind has picked up and we're at about 20 mph with gust to about 35. This is the time I worry about the power going out. Forecast is for wiinds to gust to 60 mph. Now that's scary.

We've got about a foot of snow and it's still coming down. Well, to be honest, it's coming sideways. :rolleye2:

Baltimore City just announced a Snow Emergency Phase 3 is now in affect. that means NO VEHICLES on the roads of Baltimore City except government and emergency vehicles.

This is getting bad folks. The mayor said to prepare for power outages. Winds are forecasted to be above 50 mph. And that's in the city. I have no idea how high the winds will get where I live. I live on the bay and I'm not sure how bad it will get.

They say we've gotten another 20 inches today, but with the winds, I don't know how they can measure it. If that's the case that's over 50 inches of snow in 6 days, and it's still snowing.

Anybody ever see the movie "The Day After Tomorrow"? I think I know how they felt.

I don't live very far from Baltimore, only about an hour away. I live in York, PA and we are just waiting for this snow to end. The wind has caused some pretty severe drifting of the snow. I have had to make a path for my poor dog for when she needs to go out. The snow is almost up to her head. She is a medium sized dog. I have not seen snow like this since I was a child. I guess tomorrow will be spent digging the cars out of the snow.

That's some bad news. I doubt you will find a shovel anywhere near the Mid Atlantic area.
