i use a 10% bleach and water mix. works great on the tubs.i just give them time(an hour) to air out cause of the bleach. when your done smells just like new!

Clorahexadine per direction. Goes a long way. When it does contact urine it does not make lung stripping vapor. I also use Provent-a-mite ever 3 months or so.

I use soap and water to clean, then disinfect with Chlorhexidine or Pet Focus.

Bleach is, however, very good at killing various harmful organisms--better at killing some of them than chlorhex.
I use Chlorhex with my general collection, and bleach for my quarantine. Just make sure to rinse bleached items very well, until there is no bleach odor remaining.

Antibacterial soap and water to scrub the enclosures, then a 10% bleach and DISTILLED WATER solution. Let dry on it's own. I never use towels or clothes from the household. In between cleanings I use a 25% vinegar and DISTILLED WATER solution for cleanups. Again, I let it dry on it's own.

I use distilled water because of the chemicals that are added to our tap water. Different areas will differ, but I get my water from the city and they add so many chemicals and even add deodorants to the water.

yeah the way it's looking i have to use the bleach soloution ...

is there a reason why you let it air dry ?

i was thinking using the bleace mix then rinsing again with water then letting it air dry to make sure all the bleach is off

I'm concerned about the detergents and fragerance additives used to wash towels in your washing machine. I also believe that bleach will work a little longer if left to gry on its own.

I don't have any scientific reason, it's just what I do.

It depends on what kind of substrate your using. If you use paper like I do in some of my tubs then you have to clean them fairly often when they pee or poo. But if your using aspen it gets spot cleaned and then once a month they get totally cleaned out and new bedding. If I see a mess and if its a really big mess might have to change the tub out sooner. Just depends.

Once a month, unless they have some funky poo. If everything goes as intended, once a month with vinegar cleaning after every poo.

Many vet clinics use Chlorhex (aka Nolvesan)...you may be able to ask your vet if you could buy a bottle from them!

You can try Veterinarian supply places or see if there are any farm and ranch supply places. Here is another website you might try...

You can try contacting these people. It is a ranch up there near you. See if they use it, and if they do, find out where they get it, or maybe know of a place local that sells it. You can also try talking to local pet shops, breeders or local herp associations...

I use listerine every week and chlorhexidine once a month. I clean cages every saturday or sunday and if the poo or pee during the week there cage gets cleaned then and there. Ive never been a fan of spot cleaning it just doesnt seem sanitary to me I like everything to be clean and disinfected. All water bowls get disinfected weekly also. I use to work at columbus serum company which was a vet warehouse and I got chlorhexidine for 3.00 a gallon sadly our warehouse was shut down in april of 2009 but I still have my last gallon of it from back then. If you use it by the directions a gallon lasts forever.
