lip tattoo ideas...

okay so my son is getting the inside of his lip tattooed. i have mine done... it says namaste'

he's thinking of getting either awesome or look left with an arrow pointing right underneath it.

i told him you guys are GREAT at coming up with ideas... so... post them here. what would you suggest he get.

I wouldn't even recommend getting it to be honest. Over time it will disappear, so it was rather wasted. That is just my input on that situation.

that's the point! he's 15 and it costs $25... it's fun for him and not a life-forever thing :)

I still wouldn't do it though. To me people now days get tattoos for the wrong reason. I get a tattoo because it means something significant to me. A lot of people now a days get a tattoo because they think it makes them look cool, which is probably the case for your son, no disrespect intended also.

If you're going to let him do it thought, get his name I suppose.

I was in the bank the other day, and a guy in a business suit and everything, I was like right on, and when he blinked, he had the f you across his eyelids. Now that was a sick tattoo.

It's also due because he's getting in a spot that in some time to come won't be there. Tattoo anywheres else would be more forever.

We can lighten up a little bit here....yes? I know newer folks may not know Aleesha, and when you don't know someone, it's easy to make assumptions about their parenting styles/skills based on a few typed words. Maybe I can set minds at ease....this coming from a very conservative mom who would never allow something like this in her own home....

Aleesha knows what she's doing...and she knows her kids. This isn't a case of an airhead young mother who doesn't know any better...nor a case of a milk-toast mother who lets her kids run roughshod over her. She's cool...and her kids are, too. And if she's comfortable allowing her 15 year old to do something like this, then I, for one, just wish I were as clever as dr. del in coming up with funny ideas to offer her!

I want my other ear gauged (theyre old school and wouldnt let me get both) and the middle of my bottom lip done with a captive bead ring...

My husband tattoos. He said that sometimes, inner lip tattoos last for a very long time; other times, they go away.
I can't believe that they'll let him get tattooed at 15! I know that in NY and CA, the minimum age is 18.
But hey. If he is mature and feels ready to get it.. I am not against it if you go to a legit shop and everything is done cleanly!

I can't give an idea though, without knowing him. Should be something that is just "him." :)

Im not sure about other states, but i think most places in ohio wont tattoo anyone under 16, even with parental consent.... You have to be 18 to get piercings or tattoos with out parental consent...
Theres actually for some odd reason a ton of kids in my school with tattoos. and its a suburban school... I would bet that theres more girls then guys with tattoos.... By alot... Its weird...

I see a surprising amount of kids with tats at my daughter's high school. Most of them not exactly small, dainty or discreet, either. And this is a pretty small rural town.

Aleesha is in Canada...I don't know if they have different sorts of rules for allowing tats on minors. If they're seriously considering it, though, then I imagine parental consent is plenty.

Yeah... There used to be a girl with a tattoo on the back of her neck, now theres a "good girl" who has a tattoo on her wrist! and another like on her ankle... But its like a quiet good grade student. lol. Theres this one girl whos probably like 15-16 with tons of tattoos. like all on her arms and everything. Punk Rock "Stars" on her for arms and small stars on her hand i think...

Im not allowed to get a tattoo untill im 18... :( lol. (soon enough 8 months about)

I have four tattoos, and pretty much everyone I know has at least one, and a good chunk of my friends have several. Tattoos are very popular for people to get, regardles of reputation or status. You dont have to be a metalhead or a badass to get a tattoo anymore, they are quite common so people dont think the same way about them as they used to.

yeah, I once had an amazing deathlock that went past my chin... my mother paid me off by paying for half of my quad-core gaming rig instead of letting me get my lip pierced... I don't have a tattoo yet but I have one planned, unfortunately it is fairly large and thus fairly expensive, plus i want to find the right artist to do it. I'm about to go into the business college so I know what kind of tats I can and can't get. nothing visible when wearing business attire. For a lip tat i would get something in latin... i don't know why but latin always looks good, i had a bunch of friends that got them back in high school, one got a scripture, another got [something more naughty]... so its whatever he wants, what is he into, that might help us make some suggestions :)

Im out of highschool now but my 17 year old brother has a 16 year old friend from overseas that moved here and he has both arms completly tattooed. Sleeves all the way up and a chest piece covering his entire upper part of his body and a huge flower in the center of his neck

Why get something that you can say you had??? I say put that 25 to a real tattoo that you will have for life, If you do not want a tattoo for life then don't get one... Tell hem to get some temporary tattoos to try first, if he is afraid of commitment, a piercing might work, you can take it out. $25???????

Coming from a guy who has a few tattoos I say ignore the negative people and let him go for it. Here in Texas you have to be 18 to get a tattoo regardless of parents consent and the day I turned 18 I went and got a large tribal leg piece now I have a complete rib piece and a huge houlder piece and I go to college full time, work full time, live in a 3 bedroom house, and doin very well for myself. Let him express himself it has nothing to do with him as a person.

Anyhow, I love lip tats, I think they are super neat and a fun idea for your son to play with. Dr Dels were my favorite to read, so some of those ideas were really good.

You can get a tattoo younger than 18 if a parent is present. My cousin got a pretty large forearm tattoo the day he turned 17. But if I'm remembering correctly, even with a parent, you have to be at least 16.

hey everyone... for some reason i didn't get any notifications of this thread so i thought it was just ignored... but alas... here it is... alive and well LOL

he got it done last night. "AWESOME" - so everything that comes out his mouth is awesome LOL this was his original idea and i'm glad he stuck with it. if he had chosen something i didn't agree with, it wouldn't have happened.

as for the poster who said i'd allow drinking etc... you sooooo have me tagged wrong. i allow my kids to express themselves. i allow them to be them. they don't have curfews, they don't have a lot of 'rules'... but they know (cause i tell them often) that if they go too far... they will have them! i trust them and i show them that by allowing them to be themselves. there's nothing worse than being forced into a box you don't wanna live in. by allowing them the freedom to do some things (like an inner lip tat that no one will ever see unless they show them and won't hold them back from getting a job they want etc)... they listen to me more on things like "don't do drugs" - use two forms of birth control if and when you decide to start having sex.

i pick my battles wisely... and make sure they are few and far between. it worked with my eldest... she stayed away from drugs and alcohol until she moved out. then her choices were her own to make... cause after all, it's her life to live.

my son must have thanked me a thousand times last night - he knows i'm a cool mom, he knows i'm a mom who listens... who really hears him.

and so, in my opinion... my purpose in his life is flowing perfectly. to guide - to lead by example but not to push, shove or force. after all... i've never respected anyone who forced me to do stuff... but i respected the ones who allowed me the space to figure things out for myself.

;) i'm here as their guides in this life... but trust me when i say... i carry a big stick and know how to use it LOL

i was polite enough to ignore you and not really address you but here it is. you are judging me based on nothing more than a few words in a thread. you don't know me. you have no idea how i parent. you have no idea who my kid is. you don't know what he's like at all.

i suggest you keep your opinion to yourself... cause nothing you have to say is welcomed. absolutely nothing.

Personally I hate the fact that everyone I know and see at school has tattoos... Mind that most surfaces I would want a tattoo on are scarred to hell and back, so it could just be jealousy. But really everyone seems to have them or some kind or piercings and it's kind of irritating since it's more enjoyable when you rarely see them, instead of seeing everyone with some body mod going on.

That said I vote WOW/MOM It would be badass and I'd get that done for my mom.

Awesome, was a good choice imo. I am always saying"awesome!" Although, here in northern Cali, I am starting to pick up the "hella" adjective that eeeeveryone uses here. "that's hella kewl."

the healing is literally hours with a lip. it takes no time at all. mine was a little bit tender the next day and then normal from then on. ;) he's feeling great today... AND loves him mama huge!!!

I had a mom (one of many) that went that route, and it was such an empowering experience, I know exactly what your son is feeling.

Best part is, he will have the tattoo with the MOST cachet of all his friends, and it is temporary and can be invisible should he chose it to be.
