She just doesn't go in her humid hide + a hide question.

I provided a humid hide for Candice (no Matt, I did not name her after a wrestler lol:8:!) since she is shedding, but she has not used it. She went in it, but then crawled right back out after she went in it. I really don't understand why she won't use it. I have it in the middle of the enclosure, so should I move it over to the cool side or keep it where it is?

She mainly uses the warm side hide. Though, I'm going to the store to get two identical hides but I don't know what I should get. Her warm side hide is that rock formation hide, and it does have a second small entrance to it but I think that would actually help out with the shed if she decides to do it on her own and not be lazy. So, what kind of hides should I get? I don't really feel like making my own out of plastic containers like I did with a lot of my snakes. Should I get the flower pot ones or the dog dishes, or if you can tell me of other hides that are useful (and cheap!) and do great then go right ahead, I would appreciate it. Also, post up some pics of the hides you use for your BPs and other snakes.

I do that too. I mist the cage as well on a daily basis but since I'm at my dad's today I didn't have the chance to mist today but she does have her humid hide to go into.

The hides I like is Exo-Terra reptile caves! They come in different sizes! I got the medium size for $6! Here is the website so you can see them and the different sizes - http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/reptile_cave.php ! They are readily available at most pet/reptile stores!

Thanks, but I'm looking for something like flower pots or dog dishes. Also, people who use the dog dishes as hides I would like to see pictures because I don't really see how the dog dish thing works out.

Oh and about the hide question, would a clear Glad container make the snake not feel secure since it can somewhat see out of the container? When I make my hides out of containers, I normally just wrap and tape white printing paper around it just in case the snake doesn't feel secure when hiding in a somewhat clear plastic container as a hide.

Clear containers really don't make snakes feel secure at all, the hide should be dark and tight.

Tape isn't a good thing to have in the tank either, to my understanding it can stick to your snake and pulling it off of them can really hurt them.

That's if it's duct tape. I would never use duct tape in an enclosure. I only use the Scotch tape but very little as possible. I will be replacing the hides though with dog dishes or flower pots. Which ever makes the snake happy I'll be happy.

I make my own hides, they start out as clear plastic but they end up black...spray paint that is non toxic after drying is your best bet. I have a thread in DIY for hides, they work great and theyre light so if your snake is one of the decorating types it can move the hide around accordingly.

And all tape is bad dude, best bet is low-tack painters tape.

Well the Scotch tape dooesn't do a great job with sticking much, but I do understand of what can happen. That's why I'm asking for other hides to use.

You can use the clear containers, just spray paint them black. Its as easy as that. Want a link to my DIY hides?

Shoot, sorry I was afk for a while but good that ya found it. Theyre flexible too so its a bonus for big BPs, they get the tight hide they want and it's one size fits all.

I got some of these awhile back and had to do alot of sanding on the inside to smooth out all the sharp edges and points in the resin left over from the manufacturing process. I am much happier with the RBI hides...

If the snake needs her humid hide, she'll use it. As long as your humidity is above 55-60% shedding should go by without a hitch.

How big is your snake? For hides, I use Glad Ovenware. It's the thick black tupperware container.
