Dante the Inferno - finally an introduction
So this guy, I've had for since I've had Apollo my lesser. Only thing is he has been a very problematic feeder. Lost some weight but he's put it back on. It's been a long 3 months with him but he's finally done his 3rd meal in a row. He had me worried for the longest time, wasn't sure what was wrong with him, if it was the ride home or what. Tried a live feeder 3 weeks ago and it really seemed to trigger that instinct to kill and eat. Since then he's taken f/t no problem. He still has a ways to go, but it's looking up for him again. But anyways here's some pics. Yes, thats one eye if you notice it. Weighing 86 grams right now.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...39078a3df5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8026a16759.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...08b6142728.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...42caeaa73d.jpg

Was he born with one eye? Or did it get mangled in a battle with a mouse? Like Tom and Jerry cartoon, lol. Glad he’s eating, a wild pattern on that one!

Just fed him again, first strike I didn't let go quick enough as he hit it a little soft(defensively) but he went for another shot

So far, I only have 3 Ball Pythons, but that number will be going up significantly soon. To be completely honest, trying to keep them all eating frozen/thawed on any sort of regular basis is getting extremely frustrating. My adult Lesser girl went on a 6 + month long hunger strike after having eaten weekly frozen/thawed on a regular basis with no problem. I really wanted to breed her this year, so I finally gave in and started feeding her live. The life expectancy of a live rat in her tub is about 3 - 5 seconds every 7 days! I'm getting ready to start my own rat breeding program very soon and I swear i'm just going to start feeding live to (at least) my female Ball Pythons exclusively. I also have a Mystic girl, who is approaching sexual maturity and she doesn't want anything to do with eating frozen/thawed half of the time, either. My adult male Mojave won't eat for weeks at a time, either. The wasted frozen/thawed rats are getting expensive and i'm just about done trying to keep Ball Pythons eating them regularly...

I feel the same. My youngin’ ball pythons will eat about anything as they are growing like weeds. My adults are so reluctant unless I give them something to actually kill first! Feeding live is just way easier, as it’s unnatural for a ball python to eat a rat corpse. They want to kill and eat it still warm, and super fresh!

Exactly! Most of the time, my Ball Pythons act like they are scared to death of the dancing rat corpses at feeding time and just want to escape and hide from them. I am very curious to find out if my Lesser girl can be tricked into eating a nice warm frozen/thawed now, though, since she has been snatching live ones up immediately for a couple of months. I'm going to wait until (hopefully) after she has laid eggs to try it, though. She's slamming live rats like a true killer and seemingly building follicles right now, so I don't wanna rock the boat...
