Homemade Humid Hide?

Hi! I've noticed Geno going into shed (Pink belly, duller colors) and I made a humid hide. Is this ok? My only concern is the duct tape... It's got reptile carpet lining the bottom with eco-earth/ sphagnum moss inside (Which is damp and humid). Is this alright? I'm hoping to get a better shed than last time, as my humidity was to low. it looks fine to me... that duct tape won't stick to him, it is only on the box right?

Personally, I don't bother with humid hides and just keep humidity above 60% all the time.

Yeah, it's just really on the sides to keep it all tight together, and around the opening so he doesn't cut himself on sharp cardboard. That's what I did last time, when I saw him going into shed I bumped the humidity up to around 65%. But I thought a humid hide might be easier :) And, you keep your humidity above 60% ALL the time? I thought that was too high...

I use a large(size appropriate) tupperware container with a hole cut in the side and moss inside it. With the lid on it. Just an idea, if you feel you need it.

60%+, and my snakes all shed in one piece all the time and are happy as clams.

tape is usually bad, but in this case it is just part of the box, and I don't see an issue.

Oh alright [emoji108] I always try to keep Geno at 55-60% because I'm so afriad of scale rot. But that's good!
So I guess I'll keep the hide? I thought of the tape and trimmed everything away I thought posed a possible threat. Thanks again [emoji4]

Sorry I have to disagree. It doesn't matter if it's part of the box, an insistent enough bp can and will find a way to get it peeled off or on them. It doesn't stop the bp from crawling over the box or rubbing against it and that's enough to eventually loosen a tape edge. It's just too risky in general. Bad things have happened in this forum with duct tape.

in the end op your choice, but why take the chance?

thats cool, I disagree as well, lol. I would bet the snake never gets the duct tape on him ever.. never.
