Question about payment plans?
So I sold a female banana on auction and before the buyer bid he asked for a payment plan. I agreed to 20% down and 6 weeks to pay off. Well, the deal happened on 9/12/16 and advised if he did not stick to the time frame I would have to report him to the auction site. Then he was hit by a hurricane and I have been understanding for that as he did lose things.....but so far it has been almost 4 weeks past his due date and he has only paid off half of the snake. I messaged him 10 days ago asking him what he wanted to do since it is getting cold and shipping will be an issue soon and he never responded. Just looking for advise for what other breeders would do in this situation.
The last payment was received 11/2/16. Also I see a post today on Facebook saying he is selling his collection due to job loss and I see the female banana on his list saying it has already been sold......
Thank you

For me this boils down to communication. It's his responsibility as a buyer and the fact he agreed to a payment plan and it's past the due date which you've been patient with him. Since he never responded and the fact you see a post he made and he still hasn't gotten back to you? I'd report him and wouldn't think twice about it.
Now being if he would of actually replied back to you before making that post, I would of tried to handle it a different way. You had to find out an update through something other than him directly contacting you being he owes you money and that would completely rub me the wrong way. Just keep all the email exchanges and what not so if he tries to bad mouth you as a seller, you can make him eat his words. Just my two cents.
Re: Question about payment plans?
Thank you all for your responses. He was hit with hurricane Matthew when it hit back in October. I don't want to report him, as I would feel bad about it. I'm just concerned about him giving me a negative review. I think I'm also a little shocked he would list her for sale without even having her in his possession.

Well several things to take into account.
1.) Lack of communication
2.) Him posting that on facebook without even talking to you prior, especially since he still hasn't contacted you. It's more like he's avoiding you to be honest.
3.) Him listing that animal for sale even though he hasn't paid it off, much less received it.
It would be different if you didn't hear from him and he wasn't on facebook making posts. It could be he may not have access to a phone/computer or whatever, but being he has access and still hasn't gotten with you. I honestly would notify the people that hosted the auction, and I would see about keeping the money as well for boarding and potential sales you may of missed. If the auction people say that's fine then I would just not pursue it further. But the fact of the matter is this whole thing has taken up your time, and caused you potential missed sales.
Re: Question about payment plans?
Any unforseen natural disaster is catastrophic. Especially accompanied by loss of life, property, etc. I thought you said he has six weeks to pay the animal off? That means he still has another 2 weeks to really contact you about paying the animal off. I'm of the mindset that the customer is always right until proven otherwise. Regardless of where he centered his other communications we can't just make a assumption that he isn't or doesn't have intentions to contact you. Also you did nothing wrong so i don't see where you should be worried about any negative reviews from him. Listen , give the guy the benefit of the doubt and give him the time that he really still has. Just my views.

Six weeks from 9/12 was 10/24. The buyer is more than a month behind, has only paid half, and has not responded to the seller's attempts to make contact. If the buyer were still in communication that would be different.
Also the fact that the buyer may have flipped the snake even before receiving it is not the OP's problem.
Re: Question about payment plans?
The purchase was on 9/12/16 and 6 weeks from that would be the end of October. The post says he is selling his whole collection, including a female banana due to loss of job and needing money. I haven't really been bugging him about payment due to his loss of property in the hurricane, I'm just concerned that he is selling a snake he doesn't have possession of and hasn't messaged me back in regards to the cold weather. I messaged him advising him of the cold weather coming and the small window for shipping during Christmas. It wouldn't be so bad if he would just talk to me. I guess any payment plans I have ever done, I always stayed in contact with the seller if there was an issue.
