Re: Ballbids.com
Licences are required for auction sites in KY...they also need a permit, according to the site, to sell animals...i will see if I can find where I read that it did include electronically...i assume that means the internet too??
-
I decided I should get screenshots of this in case they go through and delete the statements. The caps are located here and here.

Re: Ballbids.com
The person who actually won the auction is http://www.facebook.com/people/Jason...chems/31406230
He posted directly after winning the auction but was getting so much slack that he deleted his posts and made the nevergonestop facebook account. I remembered checking out his page right when he posted so I just checked my history to find him again.
Below is the post from BallBids stating about the winner..
BallBids.com
After extensive review of our bid history and server logs as well as personal discussions with our winner, we would like to congratulate “nrvgonestop” as tonight’s winner of All of our auctions! Nrvgonestop is an Elementary Grade School teacher in Illinois where this beautiful Albino will live out her life with the care and attention of a large and loving family, and she will be an educational asset for many children in the years to come.
However, as a result of tonight’s winning streak, we've decided to implement limits to the number of auctions a single person can win in a given time period. The specific numbers and time frames have yet to be decided, but we will keep you posted about all of the above. Thank you!
-Avi =)
I do not believe that he is connected with them. I do think he used software to win so many times and was caught. I think that is the reason he deleted the nevergonestop facebook page.
-
Re: Ballbids.com
i dont think they have the proper license. there holding off til next week on further bids so they can get their license.... im not sure what there going to do about the auctions that have already been won, and i think there not sure eigther.

You know, that does make sense, Spooky.
I really like that they're raffling a fire ball and, assuming they're in KY, its illegal to do so.
"KY state animal laws
§ 91.096 OFFERING ANIMAL AS PRIZE OR AWARD.
(A) No person shall offer any live animal as a prize or award in connection with any raffle, protest, demonstration, promotion, or as an incentive to participate in any game, promotion, or otherwise."

Re: Ballbids.com
I will ask this even if it has been asked, we know they're based I. Kentucky, do we know the tow? If we do, then why not contact the town, when they begin to break laws which they are...? Wouldn't it make sense for there local police to be involved?

I just hope all this is over and done with fast..
This is the kind of website we do NOT want getting on the news, giving all us in the herp world a bad name... We already face scrutiny for people saying we treat our reptiles like they are commodities instead of living things...Well, this is about as bad as it can get in that regard. I swear, this would be all over if it was any other animal... Yeah, let's just hope this stays relatively quiet and gets shut down before things get hairy.
-
Re: Ballbids.com
They are in Louisville, KY. On the border but still KY.

I agree, this is only going to end badly. That is why I am against it. If it was for dogs then it would have been closed down day 1. But people always have to use reptiles Because when it comes to laws all we care about are banning them and rarely enforcing laws for there health. A lot of the people who agree with ball bids are only taking there side hoping to win, if they get screwed they'll probably be on the debate to shut them down. And another thing... a part of me wouldn't doubt if a few of those accounts are dummies an fakes. Reading someones writing and.comparing it Isnt hard, not many can cover there tracks well, to the point were they can control multiple people secretly.... I really hope this isn't one of the nails for our hobbies... some Or us actually fare about our pets well beings..

I don't know how many are fake. I'm actually facebook friends with quite a few of them. And I'm sort of shocked with their ability to trust this site to be honest!

I'm sorry, I'll clear this up. Some people we know for sure are real, but to be honest some of the other people seem to good be true. I can make a dummy account and add random people from the state that I post the account to be in and get friends. I've seen this Done and one of.my friends did and it got over 15,000 friends. But some of the people who are defending ballbids, it just seems to good to be true.
I just want this to end an for them to b shut down. ;/ it's hurting the community, we're already under enough fire as it is...

I don't think its a small world so to say, as much as I believe it's more of "I want to get lucky" world. Think about this. What if they bought a Bailey baby? Now imagine if that baby was a a VPI Axanthic Pinstrip.. people are going to go.for.it like there's no.tomorrow. and in the end, when they loose hundreds a lot of them will agree "shut them down" but not for the right reasons.. you know the phrase, you buy cheap, You get cheap...

I realize that the business bills itself as an LLC (although I'd love to find out whether they actually filed as such) but many companies and corporations register or incorporate in a certain state (often Delaware) due to economic incentives, but do business in another. there are many legal incentives to do so, none of which are facially incriminating. that fact alone is nothing to write home about.

it's a small world indeed. I hope you can talk some sense into your friends.
I hadn't really planned on posting in this thread again, since it really does seem that zack and avi are going to be pretty instant victims of bad karma due to the fervent sleuthing of this community and the fact that no one wants to see this hobby and industry denigrated by liars. however, let's try to pick our battles wisely. if someone has any more evidence of deceit, fraud, illegality, or anything approaching animal abuse, I hope to hear all about it. but as JLC admonished, let's stop trying to speculate on reasons to bring ballbids down. there are already more than enough reasons made public that will ensure their ultimate demise, and I'm sure they will provide all the further reasons we need to seal their fate all by themselves. deceitful and shady 'businessmen' have a way of doing that.
-
Re: Ballbids.com
I'm going.to agree with what you said... I don't know a lot about laws and such, but it seems.like they've dug there own demise by not only arguing with us, but deleting us, which lead to.even.more confrontations. It foes feel good in the end to personally rant about all of this. As said, I just hope then doesn't come back to haunt us later on..

I should print this thread out and sell it on ebay as a novel. :P

Re: Ballbids.com
This just keeps getting better. Do I think it will be the death of the business? No. Is it entertaining to watch this train wreck in slow motion? Yes. :crash:
-
So, since this seems to be an annual attempt of theirs, who's going to bet on what they'll try next year?
-
Re: Ballbids.com
I think they'll avoid snakes if they don't have a history of scamming with snakes. I'll say they will buy some really cheap product (sunglasses, jackets, etc) and try to pass it off as some expensive designer product.

All of my hatchling tubs look like that after about a day. The room is cooler than the tub, so it gets condensation from the humidity.

I also get condensation in one of my DIY racks...there's plenty of holes for ventilation yet certain times of the day they just fog up from the temperature difference.

Yes, you are right, but that isn't the issue. The issue is that the room is cooler than the tub, which is what creates the condensation. It us just like when you see condensation on windows when it is cold outside, but warm in your house.
-
Re: Ballbids.com
then i stand corrected:oops:.... sometimes my hatchling tubs get this as well,,, but not every one of them at the same time. and the only time my adult tubs look like that is if they spill their water or something. everyone of theirs are dripping with condensation... so what this tells me is that the basement isnot properaly heated and the temp from the flexwatt is making this hapen..
i wander what their temps are in the tubs... id bet my right:colbert: that their cool sides are in the 60's KY is cold right now.

I'm in Ohio, and it is the same here. My basement, which is where the snakes are housed, is usually cooler than my living area. It is usually kept around 70 F, or so. Almost all of my tubs, even my tubs in my Reptile Basics racks, get a lot of condensation in the winter. It could also be because I use newsprint as substrate in my tubs. I don't get as much condensation in the summer.
-
I dont know about you guys, but Im just going to save up for my future snakes and get them from a trusted breeder. Much less risky.
Ps Mr spooky, I have a cat named Spooky (: Shes sitting on my lap right now

BallBids.com Tony, i am sorry i had to delete your post but you can not post things that say we look bad and such. We are trying to make sure that people that come to our site for the first time do not see negativity. A lot of these posts are scaring others away that could be potential fans. You need to remember that this is a business not just someones wall. Thanks again

pretty much,, there wanting to keep the wool pulled over everyones eyes..

but this statement alone is enough to convince me that they are worthless and havent learned anything ..... i sooooo wish i could post on their wall.

Here is a email from Zack Byers about what he thinks the reptile community is.
Zack Byers
LOL, you have a lot to learn. We have done something that nobody else has done before. We have created more buzz then anyone or anything else has done before in this community. And we have brought in more views upon this community the ever before. The fact you believe I am hurting my self is ignorant because you do not see the amount of people getting involved with my auctions. When people come to our site the representation of our community has been so bad that you do not see that it is hurting everyone in the community. The people that want to argue and make false accusations are making us all look bad as an industry. The problem with the ball python community is that everyone thinks they are an expert and they are entitled to what ever. They aren't and I really do not need the approval of you or anybody who thinks this way. Sorry but you all have already lost. Now I am going to do what I set off to do in the first place, and that is to make this community stronger. Whether you think so or not I can assure you that my opinions matter to me more then yours. Thanks
Zack:-)
Here are three more emails from Marty Kersletter who says he has nothing to hide.
Marty Kerstetter
How have I hidden my identity? My name is Marty Kerstetter...same as my email...same as my screen name. same as everything I own. What I see is that the "community" is trying to shut down someone whom they dont control....trying to stop someone from selling snakes becuase it will drive down YOUR prices. Why would I, as a customer, buy from your for thousands when I coudl potentially get it from them for pennies on the dollar? Thats what this is really about. As you for knowing who I am....thats fine...I have nothing to hide from you or anyone
Marty Kerstetter
My facebook is what it is and my pic is what it is. I, unlike you and your community, dont demand people prove anything. Google my name and you can see who I am. What I do with my fb page is my business and what you do with your is yours.
Marty Kerstetter
I put down the people who are bashing a customer of mine. I put down the people that are acting like asses to a fellow snake seller. I put down people that dont respect others rights to sell snakes in whatever manner they see fit. My affiliation with Avi is programming only. What you infer or think about who I am or what I do is of no concern to me. The reptile community is no different from the bulldog community where there are the same type of cutthroat people, but that doenst stop me from programming bulldog websites. Not all breeders are like the ones bashing ballbids, and the ones who are give all breeder a black eye. So you should thank your fellow "community" members for tarnishing the whole community
I will leave it to you guys for what you think that means.

Was this presented in a email? I had one Of his fans start bashing me when I was brought into a argument and I said "starting fights within the community defending someone who you have little to no knowledge of him is doing nothing more then.hurting his business more then you are protecting it" but I summed that up in a much LAGER text bubble.. and according to someone I got bashed. Did anyone happen to see this? :( I accidentally deleted the message.. I'm just wondering did anyone see it?

Re: Ballbids.com
I am still in Europe but I had some time and read most of this thread so I want to make a quick post. I have earned an honest reputation in this business. I spend way more than In necessary to give my animals only the best care because I truly love them and care about them. I produce quality ball pythons and I ship promptly to customers all over the world. That is why I have a good reputation in this business.
My first reaction is one that I still subscribe to. My job is to produce quality animals and follow through with husbandry and breeding advice. I do not believe that my job includes qualifying every buyer to make sure they rise to some standard that meets my approval and I certainly do not believe that my reputation becomes tied to every person I sell to. That is completely ludicrous.
These guys are young and will hopefully learn from this experience. Some of the comments were beyond harsh, but, hey that's the nature of the Internet and to some extent the reptile community at times.
In the end, because of the way the owners of ballbids have handled much of this and the problem with security on their website or whatever caused the same person to win multiple auctions, they have become toxic. So, we at least, will not be supplying any more ball pythons to them. If they continue, someone will supply them, but I just do not want the hassle of supplying such a controversial business. Now everyone please stop emailing me about this. I have been away and have not even looked at my emails until tonight. Put your efforts to productive use and email HSUS or something. I'm on your side.

Hum, really? Because I'm pretty sure Pro Exotics Fire > Ballbids as far as buzz in the community. And I'm pretty sure Pro Exotics Fire > Ballbids as far as importance or relevance to the ball python industry.
Zack needs to grow up, and upon further inspection of previous 2010 threads he posted in, facebook stati he has made in the past year, etc, I can truly say Zack is someone I do not want to be or will not be associated with at all.
We've all seen where he stated that he can't wait to get rich fast.
We all know he is in the wrong business.
I have nothing more to say on this matter and I see no reason to say more as ballbids dies a slow death.
