I name all my pets. If I ever get so many that I can't keep track of their names, there's always writing their name on some masking tape and putting it on their tank (or setting up a database with pictures, pedigree, color, etc). Otherwise, I'm pretty good with remembering the names of my animals.

I have a system though. spiders have names the start with W, pastels names start with D, genetic stripe hets (and eventually visuals) have names with 2 L's in them right next to each other (like the line on their back) ex. Lilly, Dillon. Het SKA all have names that start with H, albinos and hets start with A.

My crazyness goes on and on. There are a few animals that their names don't fit into any catagory but they where named before I figured out my system or they are an exception animal. Like Jacki who is named after Greg's wife since we bought the hets from him.

That's NOT crazy Kelly! I don't name my hatchlings but I do name the snakes I keep and breed . . . over 200 and counting.

I use a system that is similar to Kelly's for most of my snakes. Of course some that are not part of any system are being used; such as Cooter, Bizotch, MacGuyver, Wickerbill, etc.

Normal females - spices (Oregano, Ginger, Nutmeg, etc.)
Pastels - fruit (Papaya, Guava, Pear, etc.)
Mojaves - all start with "M" (Maddox, Mae, Marsala, etc.)
YB - gems (Sapphire, Pearl, Jade, Opal, etc.)
Butters - names/types of butter products (Canola, Parkay, Crisco, etc.)
Fires - fire words (Flame, Blaze, etc.)
Albinos - all named after my husband's family (Gooneybird, Elbert, Connie, Alice Faye, etc.)
Pieds - rhyming (midget, gidget, fidget, widget, etc.)

    and on and on . . . .

Helps me keep track. We tried a numbering system but I just couldn't reach in and pick up an snake and say "hey M06-11, how ya feeling today?":weirdface

I can't imagine not naming them. I don't name my ASFs, though, that we got yesterday. I can't name an animal I am going to feed to a snake. But, I wouldn't be surprised if certain breeders ended up with accidental nicknames (ie, "Nippy" or "Big Spot Male" or similar).

I named my snake Jonny T. after my cousin who passed away. He had about 9 or 10 snakes, so I thought it would be appropriate.
