It's ok to disagree, but how you chose to word it is what can be tricky. Unlike actual conversation via phone etc, people reading your thoughts perceive you in a whole other light. A simple email, letter etc can sound so harsh when the initial intent was just to ask a question. I have done the same and learned lessons from it as well. Your post did come off quite abrasive. Every keeper has different set ups and diligent keepers make good ones where the animal is feeding and house well. With out all the facts (like what challenges each keeper faces everyones are different) tact is required. If it isn't to your taste that is fine but it is your taste not his.
Very few people have true gradients anyway, most have a hot spot and cool spot with almost instant shift between them. I personally have 2 enclosures of 8 that have real gradients the rest just have hot/cold spots. Not everyone agrees with my approach but no one whom has had dealings with me can claim I am not diligent in my methods.
kite that is amazing! i wanted to do something like that but was afraid the sides wouldnt hold up.i just seen it done and now i got a new project:D..
yeah there is a myriad of ways of keeping balls.to each their own and pgh is right that written words dont really convey the full message because it lacks emotion and tone of voice.some of what i said was obviously sarcasm "a paper cut"for instance.but next time i criticize online i wont let the words come off my fingers first..cause i am by no means an expert in herpetology or pretty much anything.i just have a opinions and beliefs like anyone else.
i dont believe i have a "true gradient"just different spots in the tank that are different temps for her to choose from.shes a pig and friendly as a snake can be and that is all i can ask from her.oh i could ask if she would stop pooping and urating in her hollow tree and do it somewhere else.its so annoying to clean that out.

One of my racks. I also have a 4 slot 41 qt. AP rack and two home made 28qt racks (4 and 5 slot stacked)
I have a ten slot 15/32 qt rack coming from Animal Plastics as well.
snakie collection!!!!!nice i hope to one day dedicate one room to the animals and have one burmie guarding all the lil ones:)

mark and marley I sometimes write something and then sit on it for a bit before I hit post. Sometimes I don't. I try to sit on the fence, I have the tanks posted and 3 enclosures and a rack so a little bit of everything. I don't believe and one is better or worse just different. People will jump on tanks just as quickly as people jump on tubs. It isn't what you set up it is how you set up the enclosure that matters! Careful, attentive and diligent beats lax, lazy and negligent.

omg can we let me judging pps crappy set up go already?i think its crap still but thats my personal opinion and yes i shouldve asked before i spoke and yes i apologized already.im quite attentive to my bps needs and no way negligent.im constantly checking on her temps and humidity.she is as healthy as can be and quite the lil piggie.i even took her to the vet when i got her.i pretty muched saved the lil baby.i knew nothing of the sort of breeders and such and purchased her at gasp horror music plays dun dun dun petsfart.she had a respiratory infection and i had to administer baytril for ten days.if me giving my snake shots for ten days and keeping up with her husbandry and vet visits isnt attentive and caring i dont know what is.she gets new water everyday and i pay close attention to the ambient odors to see if there is something to be removed.i dont appreciate the negligent implications.
its not the tub that disgruntled me.i too one day want to have lots of snakes some will be in tubs and some will have pimped out enclosures.but all will have cool things in there with em.some nice substrate and some hides and heating devices.yes pp lives where its really hot but i feel it is necessary to give your cold blooded friends the ability to choose the temp it wants to sit in just like in the wild and not one set temp for the entire thing.just me. i shouldntve came at him like i did.so get off my back its old news.i give people crap for getting upset at someone with out asking things first and there i went and became a hypocrite.oh well get over it.people make mistakes.lets move on and see some cool enclosures and have some constructive conversations.sheesh.i will hear no more of this.
