I love that knife. Fits so comfortably in my pocket, i barely even feel it.

I got a new knife for my birthday. It's a SOG Seal Pup and i've been wanting one for awhile. It's the biggest blade i have now and I haven't really used it really for much yet. I did use it to notch out a piece of a plastic tub though and it cut like butta. I love it! :D

I used to collect a lot of fantasy knives, daggers n swords, but had to sell most of my collection over the years...:( currently my fave pieces in my very small collection is my scorpion butterfly and my replica glaive from the movie "Blade". I would eventually love to have a pirate cutlass (for the ren faire lol) and a claymore....

I like the Sealpup but I like the Tigershark better. That's the one that looks like the pup on steroids, the one that's blade is the length of the pup. Its hefty!

That 3-bladed thing confuses me; it seems like the (theoretical) intent is for it to be thrown, but it appears that the only "safe" way to throw it would be such that the points and sharpened sides would face away from the target as it hits.

...or am I just being silly trying to assign "practical" value to something that's probably supposed to be a display piece anyway?

You're looking at it wrong. If you look closely you can see the blade is on the inside of the curve, not the outside. So if you throw it at someone it will slice/hook into them. ;) :)

I'm not looking at it wrong; I'm just not understanding how you could grip it to throw with the blades facing such that they'd rotate "correctly" without slicing into yourself in the process. Maybe if you throw it as if it were a frisbee? Does that work?

You are not looking at it in correctly. I have this exact knife and you are correct if you were to try and throw this knife the blade behind your hand would spin around and slice your hand something awful! Its pretty much worthless when it comes to function. Im sure its intention was to be a display piece and conversation starter.

I could throw that knife without cutting myself...

I'm terrified of knives LOL. I think it's because my mom cut herself pretty badly with a kitchen knife when I was a kid and it caused a phobia. I don't so much mind serrated knives, but sharp blades scare the crap out of me, and while I wish I had some when I'm cooking, I would be really scared to use them.
