no its not, because this CAN happen.
Do you get in a car and drive? You could get killed yah know. Anything "can happen", but this is not gonna happen with a well fed rodent that you make sure you remove the next day.
Big Gunns probably didn't even give it the right percentage. The possibilty is so remote that it's not worth the extra HOURS a week it will take to do things differently with large collections. Some people won't like it, but it's an "acceptable risk" that breeders take. Just like the "acceptable risk" you take when getting in a car.
You'd have to be a large breeder to understand.

You'd have to be a large breeder to understand. It's really that simple.

I would take him to the vet to get some antibiotics and nurse him back. I would also be sure to note what happened on the BOI. That is the first place I would check prior to working with a new breeder.
BG...sit down as this may shock you..coming from me. (sorry:()) But I totally disagree with leaving any live animal in with your snakes overnight. I realize that some of you that are bigger breeders may be on a time crunch but to me you can prekill if there is no strike and leave it in the tub on the warm end. That would be the safest alternative.
"safest" and best are two different things. These are Ball Pythons, they don't all eat that way.
Yeah yeah BG knows some of you righteous "experts" are not gonna agree with Big Gunns here. All BG has to say is that you need to walk in the bigger breeder shoes before you can pass judgement on them. Some Balls will just not east unless you leave it in overnight. BG has learned his lesson though. The trick is to leave food in there also. Unless you have some sort of psycho rat named Big Gunns:rofl:, it's just not gonna happen.

Re: WTF! What to do?
BG, I dont claim to be a big breeder, or a righteous "experts" only been doing this for 25+ years, and only got up to 200 animals. I dont claim that I dont feed live I just dont agree with leaving a rat/mouse over night, I do agree that leaving food in there will lessen the chance of the snake getting ate on, but not to the point of saying " it's just not gonna happen" remember you say this
Do you get in a car and drive? You could get killed yah know. Anything "can happen",
Sorry guy I think your great :gj: an one of the reasions this site is fun to read. We just need to agree to disagree on this point.
I would get a refund on this snake, and shame on the breeder for even trying to send this snake.

Re: WTF! What to do?
Ed, I say let the breeder keep it until it heal. I understand that you have a long and great relationship with the seller to the point that the seller honestly told you what happen and gave you option whether to continue or not...
I know that in our part of the world, getting bumblebee is like waiting for a sun eclipse.. (hope I can get one hatchings next week).... so I understand you're itching to get one... I myself is losing sleep waiting for these eggs to hatch...
But if I were in your shoes, I wait until it heals in the seller hand and back to regular feeding and then decide. my 2 cents
