From what I see when i follow him on FB and YT. He is very busy. Going to a lot of different countries and expos. I think he just got back from Australia.

I tend to agree. I didn't want this thread to be a bash BHB thread, even though it kind of turned that way because I was upset which is my own fault. I posted to initially to find out if the symptoms she had was normal. As the week went on and not getting any feedback I vented here, which in retrospect wasn't the smartest thing to do... If someone's had a favorable experience with them, great.

Thanks, it may not have been to fair though to speak about someone who isnt there to say otherwise, but at the same time, what do I have to gain by wrongfully accusing someone of something (with pictures as proof) that they didn't do? I just didn't have a favorable experience, If someone else has had great success with them, maybe my case was just a 1 in 100 bad shipment. Either way I just wanted help and advice

Did the vet tell you what exactly was going on the with the snake, whether it was caused by something in the shipping process or it was born with it? I'm not even sure if they can tell that, I'm just curious.I don't know the first thing about the breeding/selling end of this, and I don't know anything about the people/business involved. From a completely unbiased perspective, it seems like you have a pretty good case to either hold out for a refund (including the costs associated with the vet visit) or a snake that you actually want.

Yeah, I find it sketchy that a lesser was offered when that snake is half the price of the original animal. Maybe that was when the mystic was still alive?

Not being a Jerk at all, I understand where you're coming from. Truthfully she died on her own. I didn't feel like saying she died was a good idea as this thread already turned into a breeder bash (stupid enough I know) and I didn't want it to turn into a further worse thread. Like I said earlier, I didn't want this initially to be a bash breeder thread

So even though she was obviously sick and there was ample time to take her to a vet, you didn't?

How exactly did you and Brian agree on a lesser female? They're like half the value of a mystic. Who would take that deal, and who would offer that deal? It doesn't all add up...

I was told after the first day quote "Sometimes when they get to cold they can act" drunk", but after a day or 2 it should clear up". My wife was the one who talked to the receptionist during the lesser offer. I heard it from her. The way he had it priced the lesser was not half the price, it was a $75 difference in price.

What difference does it make whether she died on her own or you had her euthanized? She was shipped to you in a bad state of health either way, right? Did you ever take her to the vet or call in, and if so what did they say about what was wrong with her?

See I don't BELIEVE she was SHIPPED with a pro existing condition as that would be just...horrible. I went on BHBs word that it would clear up, (my mistake #1,i immediately should have done more). But there was no excuse for not just taking her to a vet in my area, no excuses will be made on my end for that. I did trust that what we were told would have fixed it, as after the first few days she started to move around.

You got the snake on 2/11. It didn't die until 2/22. After it didn't stop acting drunk for the first few days, why didn't you take it to the vet then?

And I agree with Brandi, I don't see why you'd lie about it being euthanized and dying. Unless you euthanized it and decided to change your story.

No, I went on the fact it would improve which I shouldn't have done,I should have taken it to the vet immediately. Like I said, I'm not about to make excuses for NOT taking it, but as for saying she was euthanized, I do agree with some comments on this thread how it's unfair to bash someone who can't provide their story, which is why I didn't want to come out and say she died,. A lot of people already concluded The breeder was screwed up for what went on, I didn't think it was a good idea to further throw gas on an already growing fire. Bottom line, I SHOUKD have just gone with my guy and taken her in and didn't.

So my conclusion from this is that BHB DID screw up and ship when they shouldn't have, but you let the snake die by not taking it to the vet.

And now he's getting a female lesser from BHB as replacement and a free mystic pin from Jon.

My advice is if either one arrives with any issues, PLEASE take it to a vet right away and don't wait.

When I had my issue of my snake dying it showed no issues what so ever and I was still lynched by people for not getting a necropsy done. This forums' double standards baffle me lol.

I have a company and believe me, when there is a fire, I am the one that puts it out. I have a roofing company. If a customer calls and says they have a leak I call them immediately. Many times I have tarped a roof, in the rain, in the middle of the night. That is just part of customer service. I have nothing against Brian. I love watching his videos and admire the business he has built. I also know that we have only heard one side of the story. If the op was lying, I would have already been on here defending myself. I know Brian is very busy, but I'm sure he cares about the reputation of HIS company. All I'm saying is I would have put this fire out 10 days ago, before it turned into a BOI like thread...

Even in the best of conditions a reptile can still be delivered ill or dead. Although it's not recommended to ship in cold weather I know it is done and can be done successfully if handled properly. There is always a risk in shipping live animals even if done with the best possible care. The animal arrived in poor condition but I don't think that is were they went wrong. Many things can go wrong within a company. It's how they handle/fix the error that reflects on them. Like you stated with your work, if something goes wrong it should be rectified quickly and properly. No matter how busy someone is they need to make time to fix a problem/complaint. Not doing so is were a company goes wrong. Having issues won't necessarily give your company a bad name, but not handling them properly will.

I don't understand the "show price" mentality... The prices at shows are low for impulse buys. How many people (including myself) bought a snake at a show just because it was an amazingly cheap price?

What prices are you comparing them to that they are amazingly cheap at a show? Any show I have been to always just have breeder prices because it is breeders selling their product. I would love to go to a show where the breeders are underselling their own product but I have not seen that at shows I have been to. They are always cheaper then pet stores but breeder prices always are in expos or not.

Breeders undersell at reptile shows all the time. Most breeders rather sell their animals and make a small amount of money than take that animal back home. My last show was Los Angeles Reptile Expo and prices there were almost wholesale.

I don't think they should. :) I was just mentioning the average prices I have been seeing around my area.

I think this thread has done all it's going to do. If Brian ever wants to comment on it, he can contact me and I'll reopen it for him. Or, if the OP has any significant updates they wants to include that can't be accomplished with a fresh thread, I'll open it for them as well.
