I really messed up my back a few years ago, the injury resulted in the annihilation of the disks between my L2 and T6 Vertebrae which has resulted in the need for 3 surgeries to 6 install titanium screws (2 at a time for insurance reasons)
I'm on pretty strong pain killers but hopefully I won't be on them much longer.

Not sure if the link works... Anyway these things are like giant steel cans on wheels and they carry troops in the back without seatbelts I might add. The driver decided to have some fun on the way to the training area doing 65 in a 35 around "dangerous curves". well we rolled over. I ended up with a broken nose a 5 inch laceration to my face fracture sinuses 2 sprained wrists and some serious abrasion to my fingers and a sever concussions. $42000 and 72 hours in the hospital fixed me right up. Along with 30 days light/limited duty.... later during the investigation I told the CO I knew were going to be role playing but I didnt actually know they meant litterally... LOL!
Well, cant get much more realistic of a drill than that haha...

That sucks dude. Im pretty sure i messed up my back when i totaled my car but never really got checked for it. It only bothers me when its cold and damp out though so its not really that bad, just kinda something you deal with. Good luck getting yourself off the meds, i know sometimes that can be tough for people. I have confidence you would be able to do it though. :gj:

Well I've done it twice now (after the first 2 surgeries: They have to be spaced at least 8 months apart) I'm taking a week off at the beginning of July from work/classes and am going to try and speed up this recovery by actually sleeping and laying down like my doctors tell me too lol
(last surgery was around 9 weeks ago)
I knew something was wrong when I woke up in the hospital and couldn't move lol no guessing if something was wrong or not in my case...

Yeah I don't suggest falling out of a 30 foot ceiling.... Especially if you are wearing a harness without any elastic or a shock line

Ive jumped off a 25 foot cliff into the ocean and no parts of my spine were crushed. Thats basically like the same thing i would imagine...
Oh wait, whats that? There wasnt water at the bottom of your fall?:D
haha jk. Sounds painful, but idk if it beats the person who crashed an airplane on his birthday earlier in the thread

Yeah... It might have been better if I actually hit the floor... I only fell 15 feet before my harness brought me to a stop. But since there wasn't any elastic in the line the harness stopped instantly.
I was wearing a standard harness that attaches at the base of the legs and under the arms. line attaches on the back. So when the line ran out the harness stopped me from the base of my legs and under my arms but my chest continued downward and... snap Woke up a few hours later in a hospital
Airplane crash... that really sucks

Either my mountain bike handle bars into my ankle bone which I still have a huge scar from or a thorn from a locust try go two inches up into my heal. Oh it could be fracturing my elbow...my funny bone....everytime I hit it everyone laughs but I'm just about in tears lol if only they knew.

Re: Worst Injury You've Ever Gotten?
Fell of my horse and did a tib fib fracture in my left leg (broke both bones) broke it about 6 inches up from my ankle. When I came off and hit the ground i watched my outer ankle bone bend up sideways past a 90 deg angle towards my knee. Took 2 surgeries and some serious metal to put it back together. total cost over $90,000
Broke my jaw 2 years later and have 6 screws holding that together but that was only $35,000
Can you imagine the snakes I could have got with all that!!

All of mine are skateboarding/snowbaording related. Horribly sprained ankle (12 week recovery time), broken collarbone that I didn't find out about until 8 years later, multiple concussions. Just a couple of weeks ago I buried a knife 2" into my plam. I also cut my wrist with a chainsaw when I was 14 but that was only 4 stitches - two weeks ago was 9.

Re: Worst Injury You've Ever Gotten?
My worst was in 1997. I got stepped on by a 2300lb bull. Crushed my left shoulder, dislocated a hip, and broke 4 ribs in 6 places.
-
My worst injury was on New Year's Day 2008 when I (drunkenly) tripped backwards over a coffee table and got my leg stuck mid-fall. I severed my ACL and MCL and cracked the patella. To make matters worse, my surgeon never advised me to come off birth control while on bed rest and within 2 weeks I had a DVT. Two surgeries and 5 months on crutches to fix it all. Great start to the new year!

Re: Worst Injury You've Ever Gotten?
Born with gastroscesis (sp?) Birth defect when your abdominal wall has not fully formed aka guts not inside me when born. Age 5 cracked open mu skull tripping backwards over an old school four way see saw head hit a 3in metal bolt holding it into the concrete. Age 9 bicycle accident hit a pot hole slid 50 feet on my elbow skined it to the bone. Age 13 freshman year high school broke my arm playing touch football at school. Kid ran into me and I hit a big green metal electrical box. Age 17 car accident hit a bridge pillar going 72 mph. 6 broken teeth spiral fracture left ring finger lost all skin between my eyes. Broken nose was under my left eye compound fracture right femur lost a 3 in section of it half the diamiter of the bone tiitanium rod in it now with one screw in hip 2 in knee and a nasty scar that I can stick my finger in and touch bone. Think that's it lol

I haven't had anything really bad happen to me. My worst injuries are all horse related.
The worst pain wise was when my horse tripped jumping over a crick and face planted. I went over her head and landed on my back. When she went to get back up she put her hoof on my chest, luckily she realized she was on me and jumped off before she broke anything. I had a giant bruise on my sternum and ribcage, but she didn't break anything, maybe a hairline fracture since I still get the wind knocked out of me every now and again when it pinches.
The worst one, long term wise, was when I got rolled on by a horse. My hips are still messed up and that was at least 7 years ago. I tore the ligaments/muscles that keep the hip bone in the socket. I didn't go to the doc for either injury, which was probably a mistake. I did go to the doc when I chipped a bone in my foot from being drug -by a horse, lol. I told my dad the boots he got me weren't stirrup safe! I also had a concussion from that but I refused the ct.

Lol, they can be dangerous! We have never had any beginner horses on the farm, they are all intermediate to advanced rider horses that need more hours in the saddle, a confident rider, or like my horse, she's spooky and does stupid/dangerous things. I also go out and ride new horses that friends buy to see if they really are broke or not, I had one horse rear and flip over on it's back while I was on it. I jumped off and landed on my feet next to it on the ground. In 8 years of riding horses that aren't for beginners, I'd say that's not too bad, lol. My sister somersaulted with her horse because she was galloping through 6 foot tall grass, she was asking for that! She didn't get hurt other than breaking her thumbnail almost all the way off.
-
Nah lol still have my soul. Just some pains now and again lol

Yep yep, we've only had one horse that would intentionally try to hurt people and we got rid of her after a couple months. I don't give those types of horses a chance, those are the dangerous ones. Most of our injuries were from bad judgment calls on our end, or just plain accidents. The rolling incident was an accident and a really bad judgment call on my end. My sister and I were riding in what we thought was a dry creek bed (which you should never do), all the sudden my horse slipped in and she tried to get us out by hopping up on the creek wall with her knees, but she lost her balance. I was pinned under her and she was stuck in the mud. That's one reason I think you should always ride in pairs!

Well, here's one I just got. I was swinging off a dock on a rope and when I got out to let go my buddy pops up out of the water and I didn't want to land on him do I held on and slammed back into the dock, I can barely walk now! http://img.tapatalk.com/6c4b649c-abf5-f5a4.jpg

Sliced my finger on a can at work. And there wasnt any krazy glue to seal it so i had to sit there with it bleeding an wait for it to stop for awhile.

Worst:
Got a bit too inebriated once when I was 17, passed out standing and fell face first onto tile. Gave myself a wicked concussion and split the length of my left eyebrow completely open. I just remember feeling like I had been hit really hard and being on the ground with the person I was with going "Omg Nicole, Nicole, are you okay?!!" I was so confused and then I saw blood start pouring onto the floor. It was freaking scary! I've never passed out before or since from anything so I'm not really sure what happened.
Got stitches and now I miraculously don't even have a scar unless you actually brush my lil eyebrow hairs to the side and really look for it.
Almost worst:
When I was around 10 when I was just starting to develop myopia (nearsightedness) and had terrible night-vision I ran after my younger brother into a field. Apparently the field had barbed wire strung up at just the right level that he ran right under it but it smacked me across the face at eye level. I turned around all confused, not knowing what hit me and saw my mom freak out and then blood started obscuring my vision. Also freaking scary.
It punctured literal centimeters from both of my eyes on either side so I got crazy lucky. It healed fine and didn't cause any permanent damage. I have very very faint scars right at the corners of both eyes but you wouldn't notice if you didn't know that had happened.
So yea, thanks, guardian angel!

Wow Lots of painfull stories here.
The worst I had was 4 years ago on a trip in the mountains in northern Italy. I turned around some stones when we made a rest and discovered a small european viper. As stupid as I am I pointed at it and it bit me in the left middle finger. 1 night at the hospitel in Bolzano and one week of doing nothing. My finger was about 3 times of its normal size and my arm was swollen and blue up to the elbow. That's when I met the first snake in real live.
An other time I jumped down the stairs in our house and hit my head on the ceiling and gave myself a concussion. :rage:

Was checking a stray dogs collar to see what the tags said and it spooked and took off with my finger in the collar. Dislocated, fractured off a chip of bone and tore all the tendons in it. Best part was I thought that ibuprofin would take care of the swelling and I couldn't get the bottle open so I CHEWED it open while my husband was on his way home from work to take me to the hospital.

After surgery I got to walk around with a pin sticking out of my finger for a month.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...1/DSCI0398.jpg
I've had a couple minor concussions and some wicked road rash from crashing my motorcycle a time or two. Thank god for gear or it could have been much worse. Busted a thumb snowboarding, cut a chunk of my left pointer finger off with a rotary cutter, faceplanted at a gas station and knocked out a few teeth, busted an artery in my foot tripping on the couch and my foot was 3 times its normal size. I'm a walking accident.
