IN TANK OR IN TUB Feeding

I feed live. Just about exclusively! Sometimes ill buy frozen when i feel like it, or when i want to feed the critters an extra item ( less bloat with F/T in my experience)

My only suggestion for Live feeding..... Feed Responsibly.

I sound like one of those anti drug/drinking commercials..... LOL

So your OPINION is indeed not based on hands on live feeding experience.

Here is the thing I noticed over the years with the majority of people advocating F/T, strongly opposing live, they usually do not have any experience when it comes to live feeding or the little experience they have/had was a disastrous one because they did not fed responsibly.

Live feeding, F/T I don’t really care I used to feed F/T exclusively and now feed live exclusively (convinience due to the number of animals) and you are right I don’t have much experience in live feeding either I only feed about 150/200 live preys each months, but I know that it can be done safely ;)

I think more people here feed live then F/T

id say its a 66/33 for Live

I feed all of my ball pythons live in their tubs. I have never had any issues with rats hurting my snakes. I do feed my boas f/t though. The reason being is that I feed by boas much larger live prey, which could more easily hurt the boa. My ball pythons are fed prey no larger than a small rat.

The breeders I talk to aren't from this forum. Well I guess they could be on this forum, but I talk to them in a different forum. I wouldn't consider myself an experienced handler. I still need many many more years experience to be able to be considered that. That is why I talk to and get advice from people that are very knowledgeable with snakes. I don't go at it all willy nilly like some handlers do. Not saying the handlers here do that, I am jsut saying some can. Argh, I wanna write more but the G?F wants to go for dinner. Sorry to cut this short.

Have you ever had an injury?
How can you be sure the snake isn't injured?
Sorry for the questions but my ball has to eat live a few times while he settles in as thats what he's used to and I want to know what I'm getting into :rolleyes:

hmmm and he is here to critique our feeding metods among other things.

ive had snakes since i was a kid, thought they were garter snakes and fox snakes. very easy to keep in a temperate zone. i know whats up, and then there are the lot of you which just blow me away with your knowledge. i had the classic mistakes. but they were more or less bad habits from previous pets of the serpent nature. Ive improved my technique, and it was because of the help from the people the OP is challenging here.

let me tell you id be more confident with your advice any day.

What works for some doesn't work for others. Depending on how many snakes you have to feed it can be easier to just feed in them in their cages. But for myself I feed in seperate tubs. All my snakes are accustomed to this and I don't have many problems. Sometimes they do get a little over eager, but the tubs have high sides, so I don't get struck at very often.
Oh and I feed mostly p/k on tongs, that way I can stand back a bit.:gj:
