Re: Black Pastel and Mohave breeding
I have been trying to picture how sweet a black pastave would look.... Dont know if that's the official name but that's what I have been referring to them as. Cant wait to see em
Re: Black Pastel and Mohave breeding
Eh I kinda think Black Pastave would suggest a Black Pastel Pastave.
Black Mojave would seem to fit better.
Its so annoying that we call them Black Pastels when they really should have been named something else, as the arent in the Pastel complex, they dont produce a super that is anything like a super pastel, etc.
Like we could call them Het Melanistics :P And the supers should be called Melanistics. Melanism being the opposite of Leucism, causing excesive melanin production (true this isnt the exact opposite, more like the opposite of Albanism since Leucism is a loss in all pigments).

Just a clarification of your last statement. This is based on the beliefs of what is occuring in "Leucistic" ball pythons, as no chemical reasearch has ever been done, but based on how leucism works in other species, it is believed to be what is occuring in ball pythons. Leucism is NOT a loss of pigment. The pigment is still there, hence the colored eyes. What is not there is the chromatophores. They are what hold the pigment in the skin cells.
Re: Black Pastel and Mohave breeding
was not trying to start an argument, personally thought black pastave would be a decent name since black pastel spider was called a black bee.... So on that note what ever it is called I still think it will look awesome
