Which would be pointless, when you can just dump the whole tank/tub out and replace the bedding.

I replace my aspen every 7 days, and water gets changed every other day, along with the bowls getting cleaned in hot water.

I thought the same thing but my bp doesnt seem to pass any urates or poop more often than once every 3 to 4 weeks. Is that abnormal? When I see it I usually just dump out all the bedding, give it a good wipe down and put some new stuff in and then at least once a month I clean the entire enclosure out, plants and all (and I do change my water almost everyday).

It seems to be a bit unusual given the age your snake. Even my 9 month old snakes pee and urate every week; last night my son got showered!!! Anyway, I think it goes back to the discussion of prey size for your little guy. Were you able to get the gram scale yet?! :)

Nope not yet, Ill try and pick one up today. The last two times he has pooped, urinated, passed urates all at once and it was while I was giving him a bath for a bad shed. That was 2 weeks ago and since then I have only found one tiny urate. He has had three fuzzies sinnce then.

I like the VPI "sniff test". Clean the poo/urates and soiled bedding around it, then smell the enclosure. If it smells, change it, if not, don't. ;)

Nope, no stinky :) I also keep the substrate pretty dry so I dont have to worry about mold and I can see any wet spots/urates easily. The humidity stays up by spraying the towels on top once a day instead of the substrate all the time:) I use cypress mulch.

atp151415, I hope you got some good info on the scale rot. I hope my question about changing the substrate was some help to you as well, didn't mean to go off topic so much from your question.
