I think you're right about the tongs. There is a repticon show here tomorrow and I'll be looking for some. And Ursula is doing great, very easy snake to keep so far.

I always use tongs for feeding, these pits are lightning fast when it comes to presenting food items. The bite aint that bad in truth but always bleeds out like crazy :)

Ursula's looking sweet by the way T

I use tongs to feed all of my snakes but they are especially important for this girl. Just the speed of her strike and retreat with the prey securely in her mouth is amazing. And then the speed with which she swallows the prey is crazy fast. A meal that would take my carpet 5 minutes to complete she has done in 1 minute. A pig with absolutely no manners. lol

Pits are pretty hardy animals T. The husbandry doesn't get much easier. I've thought about providing ambient heat only for them in the summer, which many people do, but I still keep a hot spot of 84-86 just in case they want to warm up. I'd say my bulls spend 90% of their time on the cool side anyway. As far as their feeding habits go, you are spot on. They have no manners. It's all smash and thrash. It's gotten to the point where I have to take out their water bowls before I feed them because they trash their enclosures and start knocking everything over. Then I have to wait for the next hour for them to calm down before I can sneak the water bowls back in. I love it :D. I got this idea from K Brothers Pythons for feeding my big female.

Nice video but I bet Bulls that size have a much more violent strike than that. You should make a feed video of your large Bulls. The thing about having to wait for them to calm down before sneaking the water bowls back in is so true. I can see that already.
