Elbee: You're going to be at the Houston Repticon?? Have you looked at the vendor list? This is my first time going to one, but I'm kind of disappointed at how small the list is currently.

I would avoid champagne personally, just because of the way the prices have been plummeting. I wouldn't want shell out for something like that only to see it 25 or 30% lower in 6 months. Since you said in the original post that spending at this level is going to be a one time deal for you, I think you should get the best single animal you can for that amount (rather than 2 or 3 cheaper ones), whatever morph that may be. I would also vote for something less common, like the leopard, market forces apply to snakes too and the more common morphs become, the cheaper they get. By going into something less mainstream you stand a better chance of seeing less devaluation of that particular morph. Of course there's nothing wrong with buying what you love regardless of the morph!

Very good point. I really love the vanilla creams. But I've always loved blue eyed lucies. I know those aren't really cutting edge anymore but still so beautiful.

True, but there's a lot to be said for doing what makes you happy, for me that's axanthics so that's what I do, and will continue to do regardless of the market for them. So if BELs do it for you, then go for it!
