Music is a way of life. Pure and simple. I love heavier metal, and old 80's even hair metal! My favorite bands though are, 1. Metallica (cliff to Early Jason era) 2. Naglafar 3. Megadeth 4. Dream theater 5. Children Of Bosom. I'm also going to admit I LOVE classical... I'll jut keep that list to myself. :)

Besides reptiles, music is a way of life, I've been playing bass guitar for almost 9 years now and Cliff Burton is my idol.. and through high school I learned to play the double bass, Cello and cymbals. I loved marching in band... Lmao. Little longer. But I love details.

    I love metal...
megadeth, pantera, iron maiden, old metallica. "nu metal" I like killswtich engage, lamb of god, etc. anything in the metal genre pretty much suits me.

Im recently ADDICTED to volbeat. Love me a little danish rockabilly.

Then I also LOVE classical and opera music, anything mozart just rocks my world!

If its got a great beat and is catchy I will pretty much like the song...except for rap, and country.

Not saying you can't create music with it. It has its purpose, but anyone can program a computer to play music. Mastering the skill and techniques required to play an instrument (any instrument, guitar, drums, violin, piano, clarinet, you name it) AND making music takes far more skill and thought than piecing together pre-made sound clips in a computer.

What really bothers me is when I hear the latest big "artist" come out with a "new song" that is just a remix of a classic song written by another band that they pieced together with some emotionless rapping or overdone R&B moaning recorded over it. Then they slap their thug name on it, have the media cram it down our throats and they are suddenly talented? I don't think so!

But, I don't care what someone else listens to. I just don't see what is so special about programing a computer.

I do think too that MUSIC requires the use of MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, not equipment alone

I used to also be against electronic music for this reason. However, anybody can also pick up a guitar and play, that doesn't make it GOOD music. There are producers out there making amazing songs with computers and they are NOT using "pre-made" sound clips. I don't think there are any real producers out there making electronic music that is composed of nothing but "pre-made" sound clips. I agree that there is something to be said for playing a real instrument, but please do not just write these artists off because you can't see what they are doing. Many of them have been in bands and come from musical backgrounds and I promise you using some of these programs to create the stuff they do is not as easy as it sounds.

And what is the difference between a remix and a band covering another bands song?

The reason electronic gets such a bad rep is because its so easy for anybody to attempt to do it, They don't have to go buy an instrument to try it out. There are soooo many bad remixes like the ones you mentioned ("...emotionless rapping or overdone R&B moaning recorded over it.") on youtube and i hate it. However there are true artists out there making electronic music that I couldn't dream of making. (This is also coming from somebody that plays bass/guitar, and has for some time, if that means anything)

I wouldn't say anyone can pick up a guitar and play. Trust me, I've tried to teach my wife. :D I've been playing guitar and bass for 15 years and drums for 8 years. I wouldn't consider myself any good. From a purely technical stand point I am a fairly clean player in most respects, but I could never write beautiful music like Opeth or Beethoven. I'm simply not creative or talented enough. That is why I never said that simply playing guitar makes it good music. I've seen and even been a member of plenty of bad bands. Now if you accomplish the skill it takes to play an instrument and make music people want to hear, THAT, my friend, is a challenge. Throw all that in a live situation and you're in for some fun.

The difference between a remix and a cover is that most cover bands don't claim the music to be their own and make money off the deal. They do it to play the music and get people in the doors to hear their crappy originals. I've been there.

Not too often you see Opeth and Beethoven referred too in the same sentence lol
