if its tru that the price you pay will tell what you have then my female albino that i paid $300 for must be painted yellow and white then right???
sometimes you get a hell of a deal just gotta be in the right place at the right time.
someone correct me if im wrong but didnt meme get her "normal" from petsmart or something that turned out to be het albino and produced a albino by surprise last yr?
Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
REALLY?
I guess I am mistaken, because obviously you know it all, but I could have SWORN that I paid $125 for my Sulfur female, purchased as a normal, that HAS proven out to be genetic. My bad...

Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
It does seem obvious to us, but beginners aren't expected to know that. Unlike a lot species (such as WHSs), some Ball Python morphs have the original coloring of normals (I still can't tell the difference between cinnie and a normal, since they look very similar).
Now of course if you get a BP for an average price it's probably just a standard normal, but beginners usually don't think like that. They usually think with a lot more optimism and excitement and that's why they ask those things.

great thread. its nice to know that there are lots of people here willing to help out newbies like me
Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
I think it's great that new BP keepers are finding the time to register on this site to ask ANY questions. It may start with 'is this a morph?', but may follow with 'are these the right temps?', etc. I think we are supposed to be a friendly community here so members should feel free to ask any questions at all about their animals.
So, newbies (& oldies too if that's the case), keep your questions-all of them-coming!!!

It has been a while since I was on here but I just saw this and wanted to reply.
My story was this...
I purchased Lucielle years ago from a friend who bought her at a local pet shop as a normal ball python. I later purchased a poss het albino male from a friend on here...Brad aka elevatethis, who bought it from a pet shop he worked at.
I decided to try and breed the two...I was totally just expecting to get normals...obviously.
I lost my first clutch from Lucielle in 07. So I tried again in 08 and she threw 7 eggs. Out of the 7 I had 1 albino...which proved that Lucielle was not a normal but a 100% het albino. :D
It really was luck that I placed her with another bp that was het for the same thing she was.
Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
To become upset with someone asking about their ball python being a morph or a normal is understandable but to get that frustrated is not a good thing.
Since I am new to bp's and I would not want to feel that posting any question on this site would be brought back to me as the dumbest thing someone has ever seen. At one time we are all beginners, each thing we learn takes time and reinforcement. This site will always have the newest of new and the oldest of old. That is what makes it what it is. A group of individuals sharing their knowledge and experience with others just getting into it. That with all that is going on with possible bans etc is what will allow the passion of herps to survive. Not chastising someone for a question that you consider stupid or trivial.
On a simple level, it would be sorta like or parents yelling at us for taking our first steps wrong......you idiot! there a billion people in this world that have this mastered! did you not watch your buddy at daycare?!!! unbelievable!!! now go crawl to your room!
Support is what you give, skip the post if it annoys:) Just my thoughts:)
Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
I must admit... I am guilty of a drunken thread or two... LOL
I have learned, when in doubt, DELETE and go to bed!!!!!
Re: to anyone who thinks they have a morph
WOW. First HOLY CRAP THIS IS AN OLD THREAD!
Now.. For many first timers the only exposure to morphs many of them get is through poorly taken pics displayed on dimly lite screens from the net. A fortunate few get to see them in passing glimpses at shows. When they see something different about their animals they get excited. I can understand that totally. I have many Normals that anyone would look at and see something different. If a newbe was to get an animal like these rightly so they should ask. Are they Normals most likely but with all the cool stuff popping out from very suddle differance in animals. I say let them ask, Let them get excited. That's what makes it fun
